Is Tbilisi safe for solo female travelers?

Tbilisi is generally safe even for solo female travelers. Crime rates are quite low and local population is usually friendly and willing to help foreigners. It is safe to walk in the city at night. However, like everywhere, it's recommended to stay vigilant, avoid remote areas and not carry large amounts of cash and expensive possessions, especially at night.

Did I feel safe? Yes, absolutely. The city felt calm and welcoming, and people were very friendly. Walking around in the evening was fine Things to do Must do: stroll through the Old Town, take the cable car up to Narikala Fortress, enjoy the view from Mtatsminda, and maybe plan a trip to wineries outside the city. Budget Georgia is quite affordable: for a week I spent around 200$ Getting around Metro and buses are cheap and convenient, and taxis are also very affordable. Walking through the narrow streets is a joy on its own.

Solo travel

Tbilisi is safe, just be careful with taxi drivers (only book via bolt app - taxi will cost 5-7 lari) and avoid Parlament demonstrations (aggressive against Russian speaking ppl). There are a lot of street dogs, most of them are totally friendly but avoid the ones that live outside the city Center. I recommend eating at lolita, radio cafe, sircha x chicka, ratto, mint and maizen

Very safe for women. Even walking at noght in the street no body looking or bothering you. Travelled there 2 weeks as a L couple and all good. People were very helpful and kind. Most people know russian more than english. Definitely be careful if hiring a car especialy in Tblisi they drive a bit crazy. Would definitely recomend.

After travelling to Europe I find Tbilisi VERY safe(I’m sorry to say that, but I was worried about my stuff all the time, even though I didn’t have anything but a small backpack). You can walk freely here and never worry that smth will be stolen(unless you just leave it in a vibrant area and leave for a long time)!

Tbilisi is great in terms of safety - I lost iPhone once and people reached to me, nothing ever was stolen and I was never offended here, even tho I’m Russian. I also go home very late and never had problems

Most of the time it's quite safe area. I easily could walk back home alone at 3-6 am in the summer and be more scared of dogs not men. But sometimes I heard about different stories of abuse by men towards women. Especially catcalling and dirty flirt in the middle of the day. So it's better to stick with women.

We were in tbilisi with my four girlfriends. We got catcalled often and got stared a lot by men. In day light or at midnight, it was so frasturating to walk around. The city is not that expensive but it is not cheap too. The food around touristic areas are not good.

Tbilisi nowadays is less safe for locals due to ongoing political turmoil, however for visitors, I would say it is in general safe to move around in certain hours and places, it is still recommended to not travel all alone in different cities and maybe try to make local friends to avoid getting scammed at different places.

About me

Hi! I’m Anano, an architecture student based in Tbilisi, Georgia. I’m deeply passionate about thoughtful design, creative work, and exploring the world especially through meaningful, budget travel. As a student of architecture, I spend long hours at my laptop drawing, designing, and working on projects that challenge and inspire me. That’s why I’m drawn to a lifestyle where I can combine my academic and creative work with travel bringing my laptop with me, working remotely, and fully immersing myself in new cultures and places. I believe the best ideas often come when we step outside of our comfort zones, and I’m always seeking spaces, cities, and people that spark fresh perspective. I’m really looking forward to connecting with other curious, creative, and driven women — to support each other, and grow together.
