I spent one week in Bosnia and Herzegovina mid September 2025. I stayed a couple of days in Sarajevo for city sightseeing and the rest hiking on the mountains: Prenj, Treskavica, Lukomir hike, Trebevic. I totally recommend!! Mountains are mezmerising, especially Prenj. People are extremely hospitable, friendly and polite. I felt totally safe as solo female traveller all the time during my stay. A special mention: I stayed the last two nights of my trip in the village of Umoljani, the accommodation is called Koliba Umoljani. Owners are so warm hearted and their breakfast is out of this world delicious! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Was travelling with friends, first on the countryside and then in Sarajevo. You can see mountains surrounding the city, Burek bakeries on almost every corner and one must visit a Kafana, it’s wild but absolutely worth it! (;

I felt safe, we ate at Karuzo and I higly recommend that (ecpecially for vegans) it changed my life. I recommed going to yellow fortress when sun goes down and listening minaret calls. Tunnel of hope was touching.
Posted: July 30, 2025I stayed in Sarajevo for 3 days and always felt safe, even at night. The people are welcoming and the city has a calm and relaxed atmosphere. I stayed in an apartment in the center, a perfect location to get around on foot: almost everything is within walking distance. I recommend visiting Baščaršija (the old town), the Tunnel of Hope, the cable car that goes up Mount Trebević (amazing views), and simply getting lost among the streets full of history. The War Museum disappointed me a bit because of how it is maintained, so I would skip it. For food, I absolutely recommend Ćevabdžinica Željo and trying local desserts like baklava. In general, it's a low-cost trip, perfect if you want to see a different city, full of culture and with a touching past. The itinerary was flexible, so no rushing, just relaxed exploration.

i think it's and overall very safe town, because its not so big and there aren't too many unknown people living here (its like everyone knows everyone). The crime isnt very often although it happens sometimes.
Posted: June 26, 2025People are welcoming and it was all safe.I experienced walking around city center at night and there were people around still at 12 . Most places were open and nobody make me feel in danger . It was a nice trip
Posted: June 8, 2025I haven't been around much. But as far as I know, it's safe and secure for a night walk, travelling alone, and most of the people are kind and understanding. It's all good and fun and I'm curious to meet new people.

Čapljina is a small town where everyone knows everyone. It’s really safe, people walk around at night without worry, and there’s not much crime. It’s the kind of place where you’ll often see kids playing outside or people just enjoying coffee in town. Nothing much ever happens here – in a good way.

thankfully i haven’t had any overly unpleasant situations and i generally feel safe at night until i see someone. it’s good to have something for self defence.
