Is Bosnia and Herzegovina safe for women?

Sarajevo

I would say it’s a safe city; the crime rate is low, but there are some exceptions, as there are everywhere. People are nice and polite; I personally haven’t been harassed by anyone in any way. The city is full of migrants, though, and they could be the ones making trouble.

Tuzla

It's pretty safe. I haven't had any specific bad experiences, but I still take some precautions when returning home late, e.g. I always take a taxi as it's cheap here. You can call 1517 or 1525 - reliable taxi services and be sure to come home safely. During the day, you shouldn't have any problems in the city, as it's a smaller city so there aren't specific bad neighborhoods.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

Safety will vary based on what you look like. I'm a visibly queer woman so I speak from my own experience. If you are visibly gay, or are traveling with a gay man or a trans person, please choose where you go and who you go with wisely. Most of Bosnia is not gay friendly and you will be at risk. Sarajevo is pretty open, but even there you will need to tone everything down. Fun parties tho, even has a gay underground scene you can explore if you know a local that can show you around. For everyone else, Bosnia is extremely safe and you will never worry about being robbed or hurt in any way. For my gays, stay safe.

Tuzla

The biggest problem in the last 1 year is traffic, there was a lot of crashes but overall its a safe place, In 80% cases you wont experience bad things, yes, there are rude and bad people but most of them are amazing.

Siroki Brijeg

Široki Brijeg is a pretty small and safe place to be. It only has around 20000 residents, and there is not much happening. Bad things rarely occur. I consider tourists to be very safe, as I think there is no threat to them.

Mostar, Solo travel

It was nice city to travel. In the Mostar, there are old town. There are crowded but nice. If you walk around before the 10am, it will be better experience. Also, you can visit other touristic attraction near the Mostar. There are a one day bus tour. Or you can get there by hitchhike. Hitchhiking in Mostar is safe and easy.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Solo travel

Travelling Bosnia solo was incredible! Before coming I did not know what to expect, so I was happily surprised by the stunning nature, interesting history and friendly locals here. The river Neretva is great to swim in on a hot summers day - stop off in Mostar or Konjic (or both!) to do this. If I could travel here again I would rent a vehicle as I feel like there is so much more to see outside of Mostar and Sarajevo which is where most people go!
