In Hoi An I felt very safe. I was traveling with my partner, but some nights, when he was in need of a break and just wanted to relax, I would go by my self to explore and find some fresh snacks at the streetfood-markets. Loved it!

You will feel very safe and the locals will take care of you and offer to help if you look lost or confused. I recommend walking around the Old Town at sunset and having a decent budget for jewelry and accessories. Clothing is overpriced and same pieces can be found much cheaper in Saigon with the same quality. Jewelry and accessories are exception and recommend buying here instead. Try to barter but also pay fairly for the item given the quality.
