North Karelia, Couple travel

Unfortunately I can not recommend any attractions, we only had time to stop at Petrozavodsk and visit a couple of cafes there (those were not very impressive). That was our second backpacking trip and we mostly enjoyed the beauty of the karelian nature. We climbed the mountain Vottovaara, and even spent one night on the top of it. Our trip lasted like 5 days, and we had our tent with us so we spent nothing on hotel, and the only food we had was either sublimates or snacks. I recommend it to everybody who wants to explore northern nature but don't want to go to Teriberka or sth like that. Karelia is very stony and monumental, it is also dangerous - there are woolfs, bears, swamps, but there is also a lot of berries and beautiful landscapes. If you dare, go!
