Especially I love Japan, it's culture and language and I hope to visit it soon. I also love cooking, baking, watching movies, tv series and figure skating.

A daydreamer undetected by people around. Originally from Nha Trang city, but explore myself in a country thousands miles away. Why I came to Finland? third year into a university in Vietnam and i suddenly asked myself if I am ready to graduate. So yes a Vietnamese college drop-out before moving permanently to Finland for study and work. Oh and be prepared! If I can choose what I eat, I go vegetarian. 😸

I’ve been living in Helsinki for 5 years now, 3 of them with my cats Viola and Olivia. I used to travel more, but corona and getting cats changed my life into being more of a homebody. Nowadays I’m part of a twerk dance crew in Helsinki, enjoy roller derby but do mainly officiating and lay at home with my cattos. I’m into playing Palia on my switch and Stardew Valley on laptop. I love meeting new people, but being an introvert I also need my own time. When I have time, I love visiting museums, thrift stores, read and visit restaurants, cafes and bars! What I can offer: tips about Helsinki, free/cheap things to do, a sofa to sleep on. Also some tips about Lapland!

I am a upper secondary school student in Pori, Finland. Travelling has been my passion since I was a child. I have visited South Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, Singapore, Belgium and Italy, and planning to visit many more countries (top of the list being Norway, Iceland, Japan and New Zealand). In my free time, I read, make art, watch TV shows, do sports and volunteer for the European Youth Parliament. Due to my international background I have also been active in meeting international people in my local area, despite not being particularly extroverted. I do not mind sleeping on some blankets on the floor, and am mainly looking for an open-minded host who has a deep understanding of internationality and their local culture.

Jalasjarvi is a quite small town. The people are very friendly. I was a voluneter for Aukusti festival that took place there. We stayed at the community center. A store was in 100 m from our place. A very strange habit that people have there- after the festival was over, teenagers brought beer and a speaker and just stayed in front of random houses and had like an afterparty there. Everybody knows everybody so even tho they have some strange habits they are still very friendly and safe to be around. nearby there was a big zoo with animals all over the world, lakes and a religious summer camp, sports field, a cinema. compared to other countries it wasn t that expensive, you can recycle cans and get some money back from it. For a restaurant you have to leave the town cause i don t remeber them having one.

Hi I’m Hikari from Japan. Now I’m 21 and a university student. I love cooking, reading, walking, and traveling so much! Though I’m not a great English speaker, interacting and talking with people from different countries and who have different backgrounds is surely my favorite thing because it’s so interesting to know other cultures, lifestyles, values, thoughts, etc. I also want to practice speaking English. About my personality, I’m active and very curious! Many of my friends say like that. I think I’m easygoing and sociable too. I’d love to make many friends during my travel.
When I arrived Helsinki this time it’s so cold but all of people has good energy, beautiful smile. I love it Helsinki. I felt I’m in my hometown. Everything was perfect. (Food, people, hostel..) different atmosphere.
Posted: July 25, 2024I have lived in Kotka for one year as an exchange. It a small but really cute city. All the people I have met have been really kind and for women it is quite save to go there. As all the places in Finland it's not cheap. There is much nature to go for long walks and hikes. The city is next to the sea and there are quite many places to go swimming. As tourists there are not so many attractions because the city is not so big but places I recommend are the light tower, langinkoski, santalahti, the Fridas second hand shop, and the cafe tulikukko.
