I am looking forward to travelling the world and meeting new people. I have looked forward to the feeling of slight anxiety when leaving home for a new adventure for quite some time now. I am an extroverted, well mannered, strong-minded and well spoken young woman. My family has been a Couchsurfing host family for around 10 years now and I think it is the right time I experinece the other side of the spectrum(the guests side). I am accustomed to waking up to random backpackers being in my room and then talking to them and laughing all morning long. I am extremely excited for my new adventures and hope some of you reading this will be a part of my story. My plan is to go to medical school so I am trying to travel while I still have time⛰️

Hi, my name is Yana, I’m 21. I’m Ukrainian, but now living in Slovakia for 3 years already, also working as a tutor of English and Slovak, I really enjoy meeting new people and am always happy to make new friends. If you ever feel like visiting my city, I would be delighted to welcome you and show you around. And if you just want to chat, feel free to write to me — I would be very happy to chat and make new friends!

Hi there! I’m Martina, a passionate traveler who loves exploring new places, meeting amazing people, and diving into different cultures. When I’m not wandering the world, you’ll find me lost in the pages of a fantasy novel or creating my own stories through writing. I have a wide range of hobbies, and I’m always up for an engaging conversation, sharing travel tips, or simply enjoying a good cup of coffee together. Let’s connect and make some wonderful memories on this adventure! 🫶🏻

It’s fairly safe here, but you can’t completely ignore the possibility of encountering Roma people who might snatch something from you, offend you, hit you, or do something else. Overall, Slovakia has very friendly people, and in Žilina, incidents don’t happen very often. At least, nothing has ever happened to me — no one has stolen from me or hurt me in the three years I’ve been here, and, in general, I consider Žilina to be a fairly safe city. That said, you should be cautious of the Roma, but they are present throughout Slovakia, so it’s something to keep in mind.
Posted: August 16, 2025if you stay in public parts of the city with a bunch of people around its safe, but i would be careful in the dark in less crowded places. I have never personally experienced anything serious but you can never be too safe.
