Ljubljana is pretty much a safe city with some areas that the locals know it isn’t cleaver to hang around in. That is mostly because of the new refugee camps and white that a lot of refugees, who are making most of the crimes in that areas.
Posted: January 22, 2025I find it completely safe to walk around, but i have had incidents which force you to stay alert. You need to take care of yourself and act responsibly but besides that, Ljubljana is a really safe city and there are rarely incidents
Posted: January 22, 2025In my opinion, Ljubljana is a relatively safe city. Violent crimes are rare, and petty crimes, like pickpocketing are still uncommon. Public transportation, such as buses and trains, are generally safe. Many areas in the city, especially around the center, are well-lit at night, and the general atmosphere is peaceful. I would recomend to avoid Metelkova street and train station at night. I would say that old city center and parts like Bežigrad, Šiška and Trnovo are quite safe also at night. I still recommend to be always carefull and avoid late night walking alone around.
Posted: January 15, 2025Ljubljana is a safe city, there are no dangerous neighbourhoods and it is safe to walk around for women even during the night. Crime rate is low, maybe just avoid really dark streets and underground tunnels
Posted: December 30, 2024Overall I’d say Ljubljana is safe. It is very much safer than a lot of Europe countries, yet nowdays the crime and sexual harrasment is increasing sadly. But honestly I do feel safe myself. More through the day than night for sure, and knowing some marshal arts and having safety precautions plays a big role in it.
Posted: December 28, 2024Ljubljana is a small, cozy and safe city. It is peaceful at night and people usually just mind their own bussiness. I feel safe during the day and also going home at night alone by foot or on my bike.
Posted: October 8, 2024I dont exactly walk around the streets at random night hours and risk it, but even when approached by strangers when out, it was never too close or initiating any touch of any kind. People keep their distance, and let you be if you dont want to socialize. Apart from classic *insert any major city in EU* tourist season scum people, there is not much crime or danger here. Live near the centre, have lived on the outskirts, nothing bad happened.

It's a safe city. If you keep to the main streets at night, there is no much danger. Public transport is safe to use at any time. The only thing to avoid is groups of immigrants, which are becoming more frequent and they are not well adapted yet.
Posted: August 19, 2024I have been living here for the past 10 years and it is a very safe city. I often walk home alone late in the evening and never had a bad experience. However, I would suggest you still pay attention as you would elsewhere as there is probably no city in the world that is 100 % safe.
Posted: July 21, 2024It used to be much safer, but I started to feel less safe in the past year. The crime rate is pretty low, and robberies/murders are almost non-existent, but sexual assualts can happen; strange men do walk around at night.

I spend an amazing week in Ljubljana, Slovenia with my friends. We explored the city, went to some bars, climbed to the castle. The atmosphere in the city is really cozy, it feels like a smaller version of Vienna:) People are super friendly, almost everyone knows English. I felt rather safe but I think it was also because I was never alone. So that might depend on if you're a solo traveler. Overall I really enjoyed the trip and definitely recommend visiting Ljubljana!

I traveled with my 2 other female friends and it was one of the safest places Ive ever been. The locals are so friendly and welcoming. You can walk in anytime of the day without any worries. Transportation is amazing. You can hire a bike all over the city and everywhere is a ride away. I highly recommend to experience the city without any worries
