I dont exactly walk around the streets at random night hours and risk it, but even when approached by strangers when out, it was never too close or initiating any touch of any kind. People keep their distance, and let you be if you dont want to socialize. Apart from classic *insert any major city in EU* tourist season scum people, there is not much crime or danger here. Live near the centre, have lived on the outskirts, nothing bad happened.

It's a safe city. If you keep to the main streets at night, there is no much danger. Public transport is safe to use at any time. The only thing to avoid is groups of immigrants, which are becoming more frequent and they are not well adapted yet.
Posted: August 19, 2024I have been living here for the past 10 years and it is a very safe city. I often walk home alone late in the evening and never had a bad experience. However, I would suggest you still pay attention as you would elsewhere as there is probably no city in the world that is 100 % safe.
Posted: July 21, 2024It used to be much safer, but I started to feel less safe in the past year. The crime rate is pretty low, and robberies/murders are almost non-existent, but sexual assualts can happen; strange men do walk around at night.
Posted: July 20, 2024Slovenia is a very safe country overall. Ljubljana is no different. General safety precautions apply. If you are aware of your sourroundings you'll be fine. On a funnier note the biggest problem to worry about are bike thiefs 😅 So always lock your bike.
Posted: July 17, 2024I'm now a 47 year old woman and I haven't had a single bad experience in Ljubljana. However, I know it has changed a bit for younger ladies, so I would avoid dark streets during the night. In general, if you follow the basic safety rules, Ljubljana is quite a safe town.
Posted: June 28, 2024ljubljana is extremely safe, i’ve never felt unsafe or afraid for either my life or belongings even when i was a little kid walking alone. Just respect other people and everyone will respect you back.
Posted: June 21, 2024Ljubljana is safe. I am writing this in June 24 and as long as I have lived there (most of my life) it has always been safe. With taking the normal common - sense precautions one should feel relaxed.
Posted: June 15, 2024Ljubljana is greneraly very safe. In the strict centre the streets are well lit and usually there are other people around. Some areas are more shady so primarely just watch out as you normaly would when being alone in the evening.
Posted: June 9, 2024I would say it is safe maybe be more careful during the night in some areas and on the main bus and train station but otherwise it is great. Public transport (bus) is safe and pretty affordable. I would maybe stay away from Metelkova during the night

Ljubljana, and Slovenia in general, is a very safe place to travel, even if you are a solo traveler. People are very nice and polite and try to help if help is needed. The food is fantastic—not just the local traditional food, but there are tons of different style restaurants if you're not into trying something new. The city center tends to be expensive. Here's a tip for you: in every city, you can just drive 5 minutes out, and the prices cut in half. Public transportation is very good in Slovenia, and there is a tourist office in every bigger city where you can check out what's worth seeing in the area. Enjoy!
Posted: September 19, 2024Experienced: July, 2024I spend an amazing week in Ljubljana, Slovenia with my friends. We explored the city, went to some bars, climbed to the castle. The atmosphere in the city is really cozy, it feels like a smaller version of Vienna:) People are super friendly, almost everyone knows English. I felt rather safe but I think it was also because I was never alone. So that might depend on if you're a solo traveler. Overall I really enjoyed the trip and definitely recommend visiting Ljubljana!

I am an art student that likes to "meet, travel and learn". I am very simple and I love exploring. I am a creator and I mostly do things related to artistic expression. I love to hike and climb or just exchange experiences :)
