Slovenia is so far very safe. For sure anything can happen anywhere so don't push it with walking in the middle of the night in the dark alleys. But I think if something happens, then it is mostly in the cities and not else where.
Posted: February 3, 2025I think it is one of the safest places in the world. :) The possibility of you becoming a victim of crime is very small. If you like to enjoy the night life in Ljubljana, Maribor or any other town you can do it in a lighthearted way. It is safe even in more remote places (mountains, forest...). I highly reccomend you to visit this beautiful country. :) You won't regret it.

I think it is one of the safest places you can find yourself in. I walked alone in the dark many times and I never felt afraid. And if I did, it was me making up something in my head. But, you never know, so still trust your instincts, even if you are on the safest place on the planet.

Ljubljana is pretty much a safe city with some areas that the locals know it isn’t cleaver to hang around in. That is mostly because of the new refugee camps and white that a lot of refugees, who are making most of the crimes in that areas.
Posted: January 22, 2025I find it completely safe to walk around, but i have had incidents which force you to stay alert. You need to take care of yourself and act responsibly but besides that, Ljubljana is a really safe city and there are rarely incidents
Posted: January 22, 2025Mozirje is a small town located in the upper Savinjska valley. It is more of a checkpoint and crossing area to get to other sights this location has to offer, like Logar valley and Golte hill. There is great transportation offerd, with a main bustop in the center of town, next to the information cneter. Neathless to say, Mozirje is a beautiful town, surounded by nature and mouitans. With many restaurants and caffes all within walking distance, aswell as hiking trails with wonderful views. We also have a flower park.
Posted: January 17, 2025In my opinion, Ljubljana is a relatively safe city. Violent crimes are rare, and petty crimes, like pickpocketing are still uncommon. Public transportation, such as buses and trains, are generally safe. Many areas in the city, especially around the center, are well-lit at night, and the general atmosphere is peaceful. I would recomend to avoid Metelkova street and train station at night. I would say that old city center and parts like Bežigrad, Šiška and Trnovo are quite safe also at night. I still recommend to be always carefull and avoid late night walking alone around.
Posted: January 15, 2025Slovenia is a relatively safe country, we don’t have a lot of crime and there is no mugging like in Barcelona happening. You can walk around with your phone out in the open and it will be fine. The transport is slow but it is safe. The streets after dark can be a little unsafe if you walk in some neighborhoods that are known as bad (such as Metelkova, Fužine..) other than that the center is safe. There is police everywhere and you can contact them for everything so don’t worry about that. Crimes are not really a thing, we love tourists and it is a safe country. You just have to be aware of some drunk people on a Friday late late at night. But it’s usually some immigrants not our Slovenians to be worried about :)
Posted: January 14, 2025Velenje is not that big of a city so people mind their buissness. Maybe you get a nasty stare or two if u dress or look 'differently'. Otherwise u are very unlikely to get harrassed. But like everywhere I feel abit unsafe walking around alone at night.
Posted: January 2, 2025Ljubljana is a safe city, there are no dangerous neighbourhoods and it is safe to walk around for women even during the night. Crime rate is low, maybe just avoid really dark streets and underground tunnels

We felt really safe. We stayed each day in a different accommodation and without fail everyone was very nice and helpful. I recommend checking out the capital, it's really charming and easy to check out as it is pretty small compared to other European capitals. And of course there's Bled, which is breathtaking. I highly recommend 3-4 days in the area of the national park, there's just so many beautiful things to see and so many fun things to do. Piran is another beauty of Slovenia I wouldn't mind visiting again! As for transportation, each time I visited the country it was always by car. It is very easy to get around by cars. I'd however recommend planning beforehand and booking the accomodations in advance. It was hard to find something for the same night especially around the national park area.
Posted: September 11, 2024Experienced: June, 2022I spend an amazing week in Ljubljana, Slovenia with my friends. We explored the city, went to some bars, climbed to the castle. The atmosphere in the city is really cozy, it feels like a smaller version of Vienna:) People are super friendly, almost everyone knows English. I felt rather safe but I think it was also because I was never alone. So that might depend on if you're a solo traveler. Overall I really enjoyed the trip and definitely recommend visiting Ljubljana!
