It depends on the area. Stuck to Miraflores or Barranco. Never wear your backpack on your back in public transport. Maybe avoid public transport at all. Don't carry anything on your pockets. If people realize you are a turist they would target you.
Posted: December 26, 2024It's a pretty safe place, wonderful people, you can walk at 3am and nothing bad will happen, people is friendly, food is great and most of the host here are really great, they will probably teach you about our culture
Posted: December 24, 2024Lima is a big city but I recommend no going out alone specially at night. It is better take taxi by secure application and no walk with the phone exposed. There some places that are considered safe but we always have to has precautions
Posted: December 23, 2024Depends of the place. Normally tourist people stay in San Isidro (safest), Miraflores and Barranco and it’s great because it’s safe in those places. Of course, you have to be careful about the delivery drivers in motorcycle, but the rest no.

Lima is only safe in some areas. You gotta be alert at most times. If you take a taxi, send your life location to someone just in case. If you have drinks at a bar or pub, never accept them from a stranger and keep your glass in sight.
Posted: December 23, 2024It is a place where you can experience good nightlife, good bars and famous restaurants, and a bohemian atmosphere. very close to the sea, a safe and super quiet place with a lot of art and culture. they will not be repeated
Posted: September 27, 2024Lima is a chaotic capital, but there's no need to be afraid. I've felt equally unsafe in almost all capitals. In Lima, what might surprise you is the traffic, so you have to be very careful when crossing the street.

Lima is a big and chaotic city. If you stay in the main central districts (Miraflores, Barranco, Surco, San Isidro) you’ll be relatively ok. As a local, I wouldn’t take out my phone on the street as robbers can easily take it out of your hands if they’re on motorcycles. I feel safe walking during the day alone in those districts, without earphones (or hidden behind my ears), and without my phone on sight. Public transport is alright for women. You can always run into a creep but it’s not common. If you do however, don’t hesitate to speak up as locals will side with you and help you out. If you’re taking public transportation, prioritise big buses, the Metropolitano and the train. On the subject of taxis, I feel safe taking Ubers during the day, although I always share a screenshot of the drivers information, I check that it matches the person that comes to pick me up, and if I feel unsafe for whatever reason I share my location. I have also called my parents to explicitly tell them I’m on my way home. I’ve also just been on calls, I feel like no one would risk trying a move (robbing, kidnapping, etc) if I’m on a call, but maybe it’s a false sense of safety… If you’re going to districts along the coastline, try to not be on your own in the taxi as there are deserted parts of the cost, specially towards Chorrillos (south) and San Miguel (north) where cases of raped by taxi drivers have happened before. If I have to go home on my own after 2 or 3 am, I usually call Taxi San Borja. I'm not sure if they have an app but it's a proper taxi service, more expensive than Uber, but I feel safe using it late at night.
Posted: August 13, 2024Cusco is a beautiful city, but be careful as a woman solo traveler. The men catcall and can be a bit inappropriate in clubs or social settings. My friend got her phone stolen on public transportation, so be sure to keep your valuables in a bag on the front of your body. The public transportation felt way safer than taxi/Uber for me as I don’t like riding alone with a man. If I was going to the center of the city(plaza de Armas) at night alone I was always sure to have a friend meet me there or be waiting for me so I don’t have to be alone.
Posted: June 22, 2024Lima is a big city, and the safety depends on the district you are in. Many tourists prefer to skip the city, but I definitely would recommend staying at least two days, so you can get the full experience. Peru is known for its cuisine and in Lima you can find great restaurants.
