Islamabad has several sectors that are safe and pleasant to explore, especially E-9, F-6, F-7, F-8, F-10, and I-8 (particularly their main market areas). These neighbourhoods are great for hanging out and offer a comfortable atmosphere. I’d recommend being a bit more cautious in the G sectors, as they can vary in terms of safety. Many of the other sectors don't offer much in terms of attractions and are best avoided if you're on your own. The city has also recently introduced a decent network of buses, which are safe and convenient to use. However, they tend to get crowded during peak hours.
Posted: April 12, 2025Its safer to live in gated societies. Its safer to travel with people you trust. I dont use public transport or cabs unless I really have to. People are really nice and helpful here but its better to drive yourself or rent a car. Thats what I do and I live in a gated society where I am free to walk at 3 am and no one bothers me but cant say the same about public roads.

Islamabad is safest mostly the areas like f7, f10 f8 and f6 also bahria town and dha because there are always police and security nearby. And even if there are complaints about any activity the police take action immediately as the whole Islamabad is occupied by army.
Posted: January 1, 2025Its safer than other cities and extremely safe during the day. Most neighborhoods are safe but there might be some that are less safe for women. There is usually some staring and beggars might pester might can be ignored.
Posted: December 25, 2024Depending on the area, Islamabad is moderately unsafe to highly unsafe. No matter the area, don’t walk alone in the day, and absolutely not in the night. Public transport is okay when it comes to train but buses are a no go. Thankfully rideshare is cheap, but even then, be on your guard. Walking to nearby grocery stores and shops is okay but it’s not very walkable in general as a city. Street harassment and cat calling is common but severe crime only happens in the night time. Islamabad sectors (letter next to the number) should be the safest but the closer you go to Rawalpindi or the suburbs, all the above starts applying
Posted: July 9, 2024Because Islamabad has a big expat community and all head offices of international organisations, and being the capital of the country it’s one of the safest places in Pakistan . There’s a nice night life, a good good scene and the lovely margalla for hiking

Islamabad is somewhat safe during the day. But not safe at night for solo traveling women. No women should travel to Islambad by herself, and she should always be with a man. Also only trust other women you meet in Islamabad.
Posted: May 7, 2024There were a lot of things to do and it was easier on the budget — I felt safe but also keep in mind I traveled with a group and also speak the local language. From hiking to shopping to eating, there were always many things to do and I had the best time

I want to see it all! Openminded solo traveller. I would like to share my happiness and stories with you! I love to explore new countries and cultures. That's why I left my old life in germany behind and travelling around the world since December 2022. I dont need much. I'm happy with the small things. I saw 47 countries already. 🥰
