Very safe city. Generally in the Netherlands, but especially here the vibe is cozy and people are not malevolent. Also not always overly friendly, but I have never been scared of anyone ever. Also at night it is fine.
Posted: September 29, 2024It seems to me, Nijmegen town is actually Very safe and that the only place I ever felt slightly unsafe was out of the town and that could be just from being watched, nothing actually was said or done . Overall very very safe, in my opinion.
Posted: August 26, 2024Very safe! Nijmegen is a small town, with a peaceful vibe and low stress level, therefore you almost never see any crime! Have walked alone in the middle of the night for kilometers, in the middle of nowhere and in dark alleys, but have always luckily been safe! Have also travelled back home drunk and have also been luckily safe. People are very warm, welcoming, and helpful!
Posted: August 8, 2024I've always felt safe in Nijmegen. After parties I bike home by myself and I've never had any bad experiences doing so. Catcalling is now officially forbidden, so if it happens to you you can legally report the person
Posted: July 31, 2024Nijmegen is known of the social and green political background which means that most citizens of this city are very social and caring to others and their environment. The people here are friendly and would like to welcoming you here in their city and to help you with anything in their ability.
Posted: July 29, 2024It’s a very safe place as it’s like a city with a town feel, people are super friendly and are open for small talk and greet each other in the streets, even strangers as it is a very easygoing community. But as with all cities there are a few streets downtown to be mindful of, but even those are still pretty safe.
Posted: July 20, 2024I think Nijmegen is a really safe city to be in as a woman! Public transport is very easy to use and I never had personal problems walking alone on the streets. Night life is also quite good, you can always meet new people!

Nijmegen is an old city with a young vibe 🙌 being the oldest city in the Netherlands it most certainly has a few places to discover despite most of the city being bombed during WO2. I'd say for a woman it is a very safe city. Just be mindful to stay in more busier areas late at night to avoid any unwanted attention.
Posted: March 10, 2024Nijmegen is a very safe city for female travellers to walk, cycle and take public transport alone. Also during the night this is possible. The city has a nice atmosphere, an old centre and river beaches.

Hello :) I’m a collection of paradoxes. I love dancing at festivals as much as talking about how to dismantle capitalism. I do a lot of crafts and DIY’s but I also love to go crazy at parties and be among people. I read a lot but can be very silly and comic at the same time. You can’t guess my character just by looking at something that I did! But what matters the most to me, is to be a good human. And that I strive to be at all times.

Hi butterflies, I myself like to fly away to other places to meet other butterflies and beautiful people and their colors of traditions and cultures. But I also can really enjoy to stay in my cocoon and would love to welcome other butterflies and people, having a great time with them in my wonderful, social and green hometown. Even though I am born with a muscular disease and I am using a power wheelchair to move around, it absolutely doesn’t make me to stay in my cocoon all the time. On the contrary! I’m looking for the possibilities, and not the impossibilities. That’s my life motto! And independency with a physical disability is also a high priority in my undertaking life. :) Every year I’m making a trip to have a water sports holiday on a great lake (sailing, canoeing, rowing and even water skiing). When I’m in my hometown I love to be with my fellow butterfly friends to have a good fresh (vegetarian) meal and to enjoy their company. I can also really enjoy of the serenity of nature or writing my thoughts and feelings down on paper as poetry.
