How safe is Montenegro?

Podgorica

Podgorica in general is very known as a safe city. Sometimes bad things do happen such as traffic accidents or fights but comparing to the rest of the world it is quite safe to walk alone at nights. You can count on locals for whatever you need, they are very welcoming and warm people who would always offer any help in case someone needs it.

Tivat

Have been living here for three years and I would say that Tivat os the safest place I’ve been to. I am not encouraging you to leave your phone or other stuff somewhere, but when I accidentally did that, left the place and forgot for some time, when I came back, people in the restaurant gave it back to me. The same with beaches, we can leave all our stuff on the table and go to swim in the sea without even worrying about something is being stolen.

Budva

It’s pretty safe and the locals are always ready to help you. But you need to show strangers/tourists your boundaries, the locals are nice but it’s all about the tourists. But at all it’s pretty safe here especially as a woman

Budva

Budva is very safe even late at night I have lived here my whole life and never had an incident coming home alone from the club. The worst that can happen is you getting catcalled but even that us never aggressive in my experience and all my friends experiences

Montenegro

Montenegro is a very safe country. Sometimes tourists can be a little bit boring about certain things, but they are not a problem at all. We are very hospitable and love company. I suggest it as a destination for everyone. I can say that it is perhaps the safest country for tourists.

Prokletije National Park, Solo travel

I did the Peak of the Balkans trek in Prokletije mountains, and it was an amazing experience! I did it solo, and felt safe in the mountains and villages, and met some nice people doing the same thing. Although, you of course have to have some mountain hiking experience and good endurance to enjoy this. Staying in the guesthouses was great (esp. food!), and I recommend going in early July — I often was alone in the dorm rooms. I booked all guesthouses via Whatsapp (just found the number and read reviews on Google maps), and “full board” included a bed, breakfast, dinner and ingredients for lunch sandwich, and hot shower and Wi-Fi ofc.
