How safe is Kosovo?

Pristina

It's a very safe city and people help if they see you being harrased or something, though the chances of that happening are low. But it's never bad to be precautious. I have lived here my entire life and i've only once been touched inappropiately by a guy, and the people around didn't hesitate to help right away.

Gjilan

Gjilan is a relatively safe city with nice people. It mostly contains families that have lived there for a long time. Most people know each other or have common friends and families. People are kind and welcoming! Crime rates mostly concern young men that get involved in illegal activities and hang out with the wrong people.

Pristina

Prishtina is a very safe place to live, visit, go out, walk. It is the capitol city of Kosova so it has a lot of coffee shops, restorants, bars and clubs that you can visit, and if you dont like that walking around and visiting the old part of the city and the square and the center part is also very interesting. You can visit Old coty of Ulpiana which is very close to Prishtina, but also other cities like Prizren, Gjakova for the old town and also Peja for the wonderful nature.

Pristina

Pristina is pretty safe, been living here and is very quite and safe. You can walk alone at nightime without fearing someone might stalk you or anything like that. There’s cops in the streets all the time so even if something were to happen they would be there.

Is Kosovo worth visiting?

Pristina, Family travel

I would not recommend solo travel. Its a safe space for families tho! Very nice people. You should know a local to show around, that would make it safer. Pristina mall was very fun with lots of activities!

Pristina, Group travel

Visited Kosovo (flew into Pristina) September 2023. It was my friend (female) and myself. We stayed 1 night and would recommend. There wasn’t quite a lot to do and 6 hours the next day was more than enough. There were lots of stray (very friendly) dogs around! Very protective of women we noticed. However, it was very clear that most men were not friendly towards them. Everywhere her and I walked at night there were dogs near us and growling at guys which was interesting. Didn’t really see any women walking at night. Food was really god and cheap! But again, not a lot to do. They all really liked the fact we were Americans (I live in London now). But met some great people on our walking tour. Then we left for Albania by bus.
