LOVED GALWAY (even more than Dublin). It was super fun without feeling like just another city. Lots to do and the people were awesome. Irish pubs are the best everywhere, especially in Galway! Would 1000 percent recommend going.
Posted: June 26, 2025I spend a year in Ireland as I did an exchange year, it was clearly the best year of my life ! And Galway became my favourite city... I feel like Irish people are so nice and polite, I felt very safe ! You can walk from the city center to the beach, it's a really nice walk and not that long but the water is freezing ! During Christmas time there is a Christmas market and it's relatively nice, it's really pretty but I didn't like the food..

I fully recommend to go to Galway, and Ireland in général it's really amazing. The people there are really nice, and you feel really safe and welcoming with all the locals. I also recommend to go to the cliffs of moher, it's really worth it.

Galway is a very safe city. People are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed, so it’s easy to feel comfortable here. Even at night, the streets are generally calm and secure, which makes Galway a great place to stay.

It’s the safest city I’ve ever been to be honest, but being a woman is not safe enough in any place sadly. I feel like there might be some areas that I would avoid at night but not for dangerous people rather than being completely empty, that makes me insecure in any place. But overall I always go back by foot to my place at anytime and feel really really safe

It’s changing slowly but overall after spending 4 years at college there I’ve never felt unsafe. Maybe it’s not the best idea to walk home in the dark at night. I can say I’ve done it many times and never felt unsafe doing so
