It is safe in many areas just not when walking alone at night in unpopular areas. I would always try to stay with someone. I have lived here for 18 years now and I have been followed in Galway only a few times. (Still not good but unfortunately it's almost normal for us women)
Posted: January 11, 2025Galway is a friendly vibrant tourist city which is safe to travel in. Lots of tours to join and solo travellers. Hostels are safe. I would recommend travelling here. It is a cultural city with lots of things to do and see for everyone

I fully recommend to go to Galway, and Ireland in général it's really amazing. The people there are really nice, and you feel really safe and welcoming with all the locals. I also recommend to go to the cliffs of moher, it's really worth it.

I am a New York native currently studying a masters in Galway, Ireland for the next two years. I love traveling and have done a fair bit, but still have so much more to explore. I don't have any specific travel goals right now but I am always open to new places and ideas.
