Depends of the areas but the centre specifically it’s a bit dangerous and it does not really matter the hour. There’re a lot of people from different backgrounds and it can be tricky sometimes. Walking in the centre can be dangerous and there’s risks of being attacked or robbed. Dublin is a very touristic city so there’re pickpockets as well.
Posted: April 10, 2025Dublin is generally a safe city, especially in the city centre and tourist areas like Grafton Street and Trinity College. Public transport is reliable, and locals are friendly. At night, some areas like Temple Bar and O’Connell Street can get rowdy, and spots north of the Liffey are best avoided after dark. Overall, I felt safe and found the city easy to navigate with basic precautions.

In general you won’t have a problem in Dublin if you keep to yourself and just practice general cautious habits like don’t keep your phone in your back pocket or loose cash notes in your jacket pocket. During the day it’s fine in the streets just keep to yourself. Most catcalling never escalates
Posted: March 19, 2025Just walk in groups, don't wear heels in town wear boots or flats so you can run faster. Don't smile at strangers in the dark or be friendly by saying hello. Just keep moving don't wait at a bus stop
Posted: March 16, 2025On my experience Dublin is safe place. I’m here only 5 months, but I don’t have any situation where I need to worry about my safety. It’s beautiful city, I spent most of time outside with other people, but I walking alone every night from work and it’s always was safety for me.
Posted: February 5, 2025It's pretty good. Just don't take shortcuts, do drugs or walk down small streets at night or dark alleys. There are some LGBT+ hate crimes on occasion. Overall quite pleasant and safe. I would recommend visiting with a friend.
Posted: February 2, 2025Alleyways in the city center can be rough. There is a homelessness problem, but it is mostly a safe place with friendly people who can help you if needed. There is lots of culture, architecture, and good food, and the further you go from the city center, the more nature you'll find in Ireland.
Posted: January 13, 2025Dublin City Centre is naturally less safe than the outer more urban areas. There are problems with homelessness, some violence and lots of people going around intoxicated after hours. But in comparison to places like England, knife crime is much lower here and once you stay in the right areas when bright, you should be okay.
Posted: January 2, 2025Depending on the area that you want to go, Dublin can be really safe and you wouldn’t have to worry about walking around with revealing clothes with your phone in your hands. I would say that the city centre in the southside is the safest place in my opinion when it comes to woman walking alone.
Posted: January 2, 2025Dublin is primarily safe for women. I would say there is a slight increase in discrimination rising in recent months but as a tourist i really don’t think it will effect you. It is a safe city, the Irish people are kindest and most helpful. The only problem you will ever face will be with illegal immigrants ( speaking so by experience ). There are parts of Dublin City centre that I won’t recommend a solo girl traveller to visit at night time but overall it’s a pretty safe city.

I felt safe but there are a lot of homeless people. Exept that its a Nice city, not really beautiful but there are a lot to do and people are welcoming. The best thing in Ireland was the landscape, for réal its beautiful !
Posted: April 7, 2025Amazing experience ! One of my first Couchsurfing and it was incredible ! We had the chance to be here for the gay parade and it was really wonderful experience ! We had chance to discover different part of the city and enjoy the real Ireland vibe ! From Dublin you can take train 20 min to small village in the cost it’s really amazing I recommend ! We had feeling safe all the trip but was little surprise how it’s work here with nightlife, lot of people drunked , bar and club close early and all the bus and taxi was reserved so if I can suggest to don’t wait for the last minute to go home ;)

Im Chilean, living in Ireland for almost 5 years, used to travel a lot!! I’m a bit more quiet now… Love all kinds of outdoor adventures, but climbing and cycling are my favorites.

Hi, I'm an arts student currently taking a gap year. I love arts, crafts and thrifting. I really like my city so I'm happy to spend a little time showing people around. I'm pretty broke most of the time lol. I'm often described by others as creative, nice, kind, funny and smart. I'm a Christian and very allergic to peanuts
