I have been living 3 and a half years here and for me it is a pretty save city. I haven’t had any kind of problems till now and I always feel save even walking during night. Public transportation is not the best regarding punctuality but if you are staying close to the city center it is really easy to walk around.

I have to say I only go to the city once in a while (I live in a tiny town), but overall it is a dirty city where the suburbs look a bit dangerous. Also people drink a lot there (it is their pub culture), and it is also common to get high, so you can find people saying random things on the street
Posted: May 16, 2025Dublin is mostly safe, especially in well-lit central areas. Like any city, stay alert at night, avoid wierdos or isolated areas. Locals are friendly and very helpful. Petty crimes may occur like pickpockettung in crowded central areas but violent crime is rare. I have been coming home alone from city centre at 3 am, later, and earlier. Just stay watchful and use common sense.

It’s pretty safe here unless you go to the north of the city where there are some shady spots. I’d say after dark the city centre on the weekend can go wild but usually no serious crime happens in Dublin 2. Dublin 1 - probably not the best area to be after dark.
Posted: May 10, 2025There are usually a lot of drunk people out on the streets at night, but they’re not aggressive. There are a lot of homeless people in the city center, but they’re calm and don’t bother anyone.

I felt fairly safe in Dublin especially with a groupe but I wouldn't recommend going too far north. Otherwise there are cops around town who are there to help. The city is very expensive especially accommodation wise. The food is fine, maybe not very local but it's good
