Sparta is a tiny town in the south of Greece with a lot of conservative elderly people, real locals let's say. This makes the town quite safe as nothing ever really happens since everybody "knows each other". At the same time, since it's not so progressive and a bit stuck in time I wouldn't say that it's a queer feminist paradise or a place where a woman can walk freely wearing whatever she/they wants, expressing her indentity as she wishes. I am not aware of any serious assaults but some weird looks or cat calling might be inevitable unfortunately Apart from that, I think it's generally safe, easy to navigate, surrounded by beautiful mountains and you definitely don't need more than one day there :)
