Is Spain safe for female travelers?

The whole city has very interesting histories and hearing about them is a must in mg opinion. There are many must visit places for example the gothic part of the city, but some places need to be avoided. I didn’t really enjoyed the barceloneta, i wish we found better beaches but we didn’t want to search.
