I feel safe in Spain. I recommend the trip, especially to Barcelona, which is a beautiful city. I suggest visiting Barcelona for at least three days and booking your train tickets online. Madrid is also a beautiful and safe place to travel.

Solo travel experience
My experience in Madrid being hosted by a family through workaway. Amazing!! I didn't spend anything for sleeping and food, except when I was out to explore the city and for public transportation. The city is pretty safe for being a big city, just avoid bad areas. Food is great and there is so much to do, you can also just walk around the city, Madrid is very nice!

Family travel experience
The experience has been enriching. I traveled with my 20-year-old daughter Analía through the south of Spain and explored a bit of Europe. The cost of the places depends on what you want to eat or your budget. Granada has a peculiarity where with a drink, you get a tapa. The people are friendly. We stayed with hosts or in hostels. The transportation system is good and safe; from my point of view, it's not necessary to buy everything in advance. In our case, we wandered without a strict plan, arriving in Madrid and visiting various places without rushing. We are from Costa Rica and we enjoy meeting people and having good conversations.
