San Pedro Sula, located in the lush Sula Valley in the northwest of Honduras, is the country's industrial and economic center renowned for its effervescent spirit and dynamic nature. Known as the "Industrial Capital", it is a bustling metropolis brimming with a variety of cultural museums, vibrant markets, and unique architecture. The city is bordered by the enchanting Merendon Mountain range, offering engaging eco-tours and hiking opportunities. Moreover, its proximity to the Caribbean Coast makes it a strategically beneficial starting point for explorations to the striking beaches and untouched coral reefs. Its annual carnival, boasting a display of local music, dance, and tradition, has also stamped San Pedro Sula as a fascinating hub of Honduran cultural life.

I never felt safe there. I was told not to wear my watch in public and not to take out my phone on the street. I only went for short walks alone, during the day, and I constantly felt uneasy.

Although not considered a safe city by many, I never experienced something bad in the city. Not the best place to keep your phone out in public or walk alone at night.
I recommend taking a taxi or a shared ride to get places. Taxis are at least L120 or around $5 for a standard trip in the city centre. Recommended ride share apps are inDriver and Uber.
Taxis don’t take credit cards so make sure you have some local currency on you and always ask how much before getting in, don’t be afraid to pass if the price is too much.
