There are some places like "rue de Genève" or dake ways under the train station where it's better to not go late. Like everywhere, there are some bad people but in general it's safe. When you use the train late, there is a special police phone number for trains.

Lausanne is very safe in the sense that it is a very good lit city. As everywhere in Switzerland, safety measures are high and as a woman, I do feel safe walking around Lausanne at all times. It is also a very beautiful city!
