It was very cozy and lovely. Visited some museums and walked around the city and hiked to the Bergsjön in the morning. There was a beautiful lake and view to the whole city. Met some friends and they showed me around.
Posted: July 24, 2024Gothenburg is my hometown. Everywhere downtown is really safe, I even used to walk home alone from night clubs in the middle of the night and I have never felt unsafe.
Posted: July 13, 2023Accommodation: I can recommend Slottsskogens hostel. Recommendations: Gothenburg is not a big city and it does not have as many attractions to see compared to other European cities, but it is worth trying to see a bit of nature around it if you like forests/oceans. I really recommend doing a day trip to one of the archipelagos, you can easily get there by public ferry, and they are beautiful.

Overall it is very safe. But I would still be on edge alone in the dark. In most places it is safe to walk around alone, but ofc there are always areas to avoid. Suburbs around Gothenburg feels less safe than the central areas.

My experience with Gothenburg is that is ir very safe and I've barely every been uncomfortable but I also know that some bad things have happened to other people. I would say it is generally safe but you shoulf still be careful like you would be everywhere else
Posted: December 16, 2025I think it’s pretty safe compared to most countries. I’ve been to the US and other different countries where i’ve seen that it’s way worse so I wouldn’t be too worried to travel alone to Sweden. Just check the neighbourhood out in beforehand.

Gothenburg is a rather safe city. It’s the second biggest in Sweden, but it’s know for its laidback down to earth vibe. Overall I feel very safe here. The Swedish way of being is very individualistic and I feel that’s the only downside to coming here in terms of feeling safe.

I would say that Gothenburg overall is a safe city, especially for women. I very seldom hear or read about crime against women nor do I know any woman that has been exposed to a crime. In the areas I live and mostly stay in (Masthugget, Linnéstaden, Majorna, Slottsskogen, Änggårdsbergen) I feel safe.

Hey! 💖💖💖 I’m a 30-year-old Pisces/leo girl with a deep love for art, music, food, travel, and discovering new experiences and connections. I work as an art curator and have lived in Berlin and Copenhagen, but I’m now back in my hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden. In my free time, I enjoy visiting exhibitions, hosting dinners with friends, watching films, and reading. I have a passion for swimming in the sea and a genuine love for all kinds of animals.
