Safety:Safe

Bandung generally tends to be safe for solo female travelers. Like many places, it is necessary to practice standard precautions, especially after dark. People are known to be hospitable and helpful. However, it's important to remain aware of your surroundings and be respectful of cultural norms to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit.

Transport:Easy

Navigating Bandung can be relatively easy. There are plenty of options from motorcycle taxis to minibuses serving various routes in the city. English is not widely spoken yet locals are friendly and often willing to assist. Traffic can be quite heavy, particularly during peak hours. You should exercise caution when crossing busy streets. However, many hotels and cafes have free Wi-Fi which can help you stay connected and use navigation tools.

Things to do:Interesting

Bandung is an ideal spot for solo female travelers as it offers a blend of nature, culture, and urban experiences. The cityscape is adorned with Dutch colonial architecture, and you can visit various museums like the Geological Museum to delve into the world of science and nature. The thriving arts scene with numerous art galleries and workshops will keep art lovers engrossed. For those yearning for natural vistas, the enchanting volcanic landscapes and tea plantations provide a great escape, while the Kawah Putih sulfur lake is not to be missed. The city's shopping scene is commendable as well, with an array of clothing boutiques, markets, and specialty shops featuring local produce. Despite being a bustling city, Bandung provides a sense of safety and ease of navigation for solo travelers.

Food:Above average

Bandung is known as a food haven for good reasons. The city offers an extensive variety of both local and international cuisine that caters to different preferences. The local street food scene is vibrant with many offerings like sate, nasi goreng and batagor. Thematic cafes and fine dining spots are also plenty, serving Western, Asian, and fusion meals. While it can be a culinary revelation, Bandung might not cater to all dietary needs as easy as other global cities, hence the rating of 4.

Budget:Affordable

Bandung is a very affordable location for budget travelers. The cost of accommodation, food, and transport is relatively low compared to other tourist destinations. There are many local markets offering affordable yet delicious food, and plenty of low-cost or free attractions to visit. However, for shopping and other luxury experiences, the cost can be higher.

Is Bandung worth visiting?

Solo travel experience

* I did have to be cautious when walking around, especially because I travelled alone. I had to ensure I locked the hotel doors properly. But, overall, I felt pretty safe. * I’d recommend going to Braga and trying out different kinds of foods there. If you can, rent a car/motorcycle to go around the city, as it’s not very walkable. * None, to be quite honest, I wasn’t able to explore the restaurants properly. But, as I went to the city, it’d probably taste quite the same everywhere. But I did ate at Tjuankie Stasion twice, but it was probably because I like soup-based food a lot and it was close to the hotel. * I budgeted around Rp3.000.000 for 3 nights, and ended up spending around Rp2.700.000. * I stayed in Hotel Citradream Bandung. I liked that it was close to the train station, and that it provided breakfast. Also, the room service is a good option if you don’t feel like walking around. * Mainly, if I was able to, I walked. But a lot of the times I ended up using Grab/Gojek because it wasn’t very walkable. * I went to Braga: visited Sumber Hidangan, did a self-portrait shoot, ate lunch in one of the restaurants (not local). I also went to Bakmie Tjo Kin and walked to Gedung Sate—though I ended up not going in because it was crowded at the front.
