Is Roatán safe for solo female travelers?

Roatán is considered moderately safe for solo female travelers. The island itself is a popular tourist spot, with a strong presence of businesses catering to foreign visitors. Local authorities actively work to maintain safety in these areas. However, it's imperative to remember that it’s a developing country and has higher crime rates compared to more developed nations. Travelers should be cautious about personal belongings, avoid less populated areas, especially at night, and be wary of scams. The services may not always be reliable, and transportation can be risky, especially in remote areas. As long as precautions are taken, the journey can be generally safe. Strengthen your safety by staying in populated areas and reputable accommodations, and getting travel insurance.

Solo travel

I stayed in an Air Bnb in West End. It was private, safe, and affordable. I went solo to scuba and it was awesome. The area had great night life. Also went to Gumbalimba Park which I had completely to myself because there were no cruise ships that day. I was able to eat vegetarian at several local restaurants. The people were incredibly kind. You meet travelers from all over the world. I felt unsafe only once when a man was catcalling me from his car. Overall it was an amazing experience.
