When traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina, it's important to be extremely cautious due to warnings of terrorism, crime, and the presence of land mines and unexploded ordnance, particularly in isolated rural and mountainous areas. Advisories from the US, Canadian, and Australian governments all highlight the need for an elevated level of vigilance. Always stay within marked areas or those cleared by professional de-mining authorities and avoid venturing into remote or isolated locations.


A remote village on the banks of one of Europe’s few wild rivers, the beautiful Neretva. It is being threatened by dam construction, so visit before it’s too late. I was there for a week for research and the locals stole my heart - if you can manage a few words of Bosnian and a lot of rakia, you will have an incredible time :D 

The area upstream is declared safe from mines, so you can enjoy hiking the diverse landscape. Day and multiday hikes are all possible. 

No public transportation, you will have to hitchhike which is easy and safe (with usual precautions taken).

Very few supplies and no atm, so bring from a bigger town.
