Is Azerbaijan good for solo travel?

Safety:

Safety:Safe

Azerbaijan is generally considered a safe destination for solo female travelers. Local people are friendly and willing to help. The capital, Baku, is particularly safe with good level of police presence, clean streets and well-lit public areas. However, as with any travel, maintaining a high level of situational awareness and taking common sense precautions is necessary. There can be instances of petty crime or pick-pocketing, but violent crime is rare. It can be advisable to dress modestly due to cultural norms, particularly outside urban areas.
Transport:

Transport:Moderate

Azerbaijan, particularly its capital Baku, offers a reasonable network of public transportation with buses, metros, and taxis widely available. However, navigating might be a challenge for non-Russian or Azerbaijani speakers as most information is not available in English. Furthermore, rural areas are less well served, and it might be difficult to travel without a private vehicle.
Things to do:

Things to do:Interesting

Azerbaijan offers a rich array of activities, both cultural and adventurous. You can explore the historical architecture of Baku in the Old City or visit the modern Flame Towers. The Gobustan National Park offers ancient rock carvings and mud volcanoes. The natural beauty of the Sheki region with its dense forests and mountain landscapes is perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking and sightseeing. Visiting the Carpet Museum will give you an appreciation of the traditional artistry. Dining is also a must-try, offering a myriad of local dishes. While it may not be as popular as other destinations, it certainly offers a unique and rewarding travel experience.
Food:

Food:Above average

Azerbaijan's cuisine offers a delightful variety that mirrors the nation's rich and diverse cultural heritage. Traditional meals comprise fresh and hearty ingredients, including mutton, beef, poultry, fish and a vast array of fresh fruits and vegetables. There is a robust use of spices and condiments, offering complex flavors. The country's staples are Plov (rice dishes), Kebabs, and Dolma, but one can also enjoy Azeri tea, a variety of breads, and sweet pastries. Its food scene ranges from simple home-cooked meals to elaborate feast-like specialties for celebrations. You might find some dishes heavy if you are used to light meals, but overall it gives a new flavorful experience.
Budget:

Budget:Moderate

Azerbaijan offers a moderate cost for travelers. Accommodations vary from luxury hotels to budget hostels. Local food is delicious and inexpensive. Public transportation is affordable, yet at times might be confusing for foreigners. The main touristic attractions either have a small entrance fee or are free. However, depending on your lifestyle and preferences, your budget can quickly increase.

It was good; the food was amazing. I felt safe because it’s a Muslim country, and the people are good. Azerbaijan has beautiful nature, and what I love most are the food and the people. Baku is also beautiful; the night view of Baku is amazing.

Its indeed very disappointing to say that baku is not at all safe for women at night specially women who are travelling alone. Every men around you is obnoxious and would stare you as if he is going to rape you. Day 1 till day 5 most of the men i met were very vile and bad and all they would look at you as if they would rape you even try to eve tease you and if you revolt back they would make sure you learn a lesson for pointing out the inadequate behaviour of men towards you.

Yes, I felt safe. I stayed in a small hostel, it was very cheap but not very clean. Transportation was very simple and also cheap, so I downloaded the Bolt application for transportation. Azerbaijani food culture is very rich, I am sure you will like most of the restaurants. I went to a local restaurant called "Shirvanshah" and I liked it very much. There is also a very nice museum you can go to, its name is "Heydar Aliyev Center".

Baku, Solo travel

I arrived to Baku through Ganja because the tickets are way cheaper than reaching Baku directly. Ganja is one of the historical cities in Azerbijan and you can enjoy one day wandering around the city then to head to Baku through the train, it takes around 3 hours and it was super comfortable and I advice you to get the tickets ahead of time. In Baku I stayed in Zamzam hotel and its very affordable hotel and close to the center. In Baku I personally found Bolt the best way to move around the city as its cheap and easy to use. I recommend Azerbijan for female solo travellers because its safe and you will enjoy each moment in there. The food, places and people all were great.

Baku, Solo travel

Baku is stunning, pristine, well-maintained, with futuristic modern buildings and a very hospitable population. It is full of contrasts, with orthodox Muslim women on one hand, and on the other hand, there are liberal and free women dressed according to the prevailing atmosphere.

Azerbaijan, Solo travel

I spent the entire week in Baku. I stayed in two different hotels, which cost me 33 dollars and 70 dollars per night. In total, I spent about 1200 dollars for the week. I booked three full-day tours directly and paid in cash, which was much cheaper than booking online. As a woman, I traveled alone and it was safe.

I was in Azerbaijan for only a few days. I really loved the one-day trip to Gobustan (mud volcanoes, cave drawings, Yanardag, etc.) Bolt was very cheap, so I used it to get around.

Baku, Solo travel

I went to Baku alone from Tbilisi (my first solo trip) and I really enjoyed it. Overall, I felt quite safe - I was followed by a few child pickpockets on the promenade, but this phenomenon is common in many cities. A large part of Baku reminds me of Europe, with a slightly oriental touch, and everything is easy to explore on foot (I walked around on my own and it was fine). I recommend using Uber or Bolt in Baku, as taxi drivers there try to cheat people.

Baku

I think Baku overall is a safe place for tourists. But as a woman, I believe we should think of being cautious wherever we are so more cautious, more safe. Baku is my hometown (I lived there more than 20 years), I haven't came across with any danger. Besides that, Baku is a place worth visiting at least once. There are lots of historically important places, entertainment, good restaurants, lively bars, and nice people. Definitely recommend visiting!

Baku

Baku is safer than most of the cities I believe. You will not be robbed or attacked by anybody for most of the cases. Of course, as a traveler, you should be careful, especially, at night or walking around the places can be dangerous, out of the city center, but generally, I think for tourists, Baku is pretty safe and a nice place to visit. Our people are very hospitable and you are always very welcomed.

It is absolutely safe. You can visit Haydar Aliyev Sarayi, the Xalca Museum, and walk along Nizami Street. If you would like to see places outside of Baku, I would definitely advise you to go to Gabala, Guba, Sheki, and, of course, my favorite place, Ismayilli.
