Lusaka is a fairly safe city. The low cost areas are less safe than the high cost areas. I would recommend living in a high cost area. The crime rates are low overall. Like every other place, crime exists therefore it's good to exercise caution.

It's hard to explain, but I generally feel both safe and unsafe in Lusaka. To some degree it's a matter of knowing where I'm going, obviously some areas are more safe than others. But I'm also aware that as a woman, I'm never ever truly safe anywhere. In my opinion the most common type of harassment is catcalling. Men will always try to walk you to your destination, get your number, comment on your body outfit name it. And the "I want to be your friend"🤮uncles(older men)who drive suspiciously close to you. Please always be aware of your surroundings, don't walk with headphones in both ears blasting loud music. I think this has always helped me stay clear of terrible situations. Oh and if you go clubbing, take care of your drink and be weary of men who want to excessively buy you alcohol, they call it "marinating"💔.

About me

I'm Lenina, nomadic backpacker, hitchhiker and sailor, 4 years on the road non-stop 🏴‍☠️⛵️ I am a very inquisitive, easy-going person and definitely have a lot of adventure spirit inside of me. Always looking to gain more experience/knowledge and to meet great company. I love to socialize or just connect with myself, the ocean and nature. Always happiest on the road, just me, my backpack & tent and wherever the wind takes me. Simplicity is the key! I go with my intuition and don't follow 'the norm'. I'm into anarchy and not blindly doing what one is told to do. Huge freedom seeker! 'what you give is what you receive'
