Is Pontianak safe for solo female travelers?

Pontianak generally provides a moderate level of safety for solo female travelers. While Indonesia is a welcoming country, some general precautions are necessary. The city is generally peaceful and locals are friendly and helpful. However, as in any other city, there are areas of Pontianak that can be less safe especially late at night. It is always necessary to stay aware of your surroundings, avoid isolated areas, and be mindful in crowded places to avoid pickpocketing. As for violent crime, it's relatively rare, but not unheard of. It's highly recommended to respect local customs and dress modestly to avoid unwelcome attention.

Even though Pontianak is the capital city in her province, Pontianak isn't very friendly for foreign travelers who travel alone. The taxi driver always tells me that I need to pay attention to robbery, and in the night the city will become a little bit unsafe.

Its generally a safe city but just like any other city you have to stay alert. I've personally been mugged before, they took my brand new phone. I feel safe walking alone around my house up to ±30 minutes away alone during daytime, but definitely not during night time. I don't travel by foot often as its not pedestrian friendly, and when i do walk i experience cat calling ocassionally.
