Is Suva safe for solo female travelers?

Suva is generally & people are friendly, but occasional petty theft & some assaults can happen, especially at night or in busy areas. Stay alert,secure valuables, and avoid walking alone after dark.

This is from the lens of a bi-racial lighter skin woman that moved grew up in Suva and most recently lived there in 2019. Daytime vs nighttime are very different in the Suva area. During the day I feel completely safe walking and taking public transport by myself. At night, I would not recommend walking alone outside of the busy or central areas and if you are taking a taxi, make note of the drivers plates and don’t take a non-metered ride.
