Is Suva safe for solo female travelers?

Suva generally has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, however, as a solo female traveler, basic precautions should be advised. While local residents are largely respectful, it may be wise to avoid isolated areas, particularly after dark, to ensure personal safety. Be aware of the possibility of petty crimes such as pickpocketing or theft. It's always beneficial to stay in well-lit, populated areas and keep your belongings close to you at all times.

How safe is Suva for female travelers?

How safe is Suva for women?

This is from the lens of a bi-racial lighter skin woman that moved grew up in Suva and most recently lived there in 2019. Daytime vs nighttime are very different in the Suva area. During the day I feel completely safe walking and taking public transport by myself. At night, I would not recommend walking alone outside of the busy or central areas and if you are taking a taxi, make note of the drivers plates and don’t take a non-metered ride. If you want to go to a bar or club, try to stay to the main locations such as Traps or O’Reilly’s. If you’re going out to a bar or club leave expensive items at home, I have had my phone stolen multiple times. Overall, I do feel safe by myself but I do worry about being robbed at night, but outside of the average woman’s fear of sexual violence - I do not worry about that as much vs materialistic things being stolen.
