My experience as a solo female traveler in Bogotá I stayed in the Chapinero neighborhood and felt safe both during the day and in the evenings. For arriving in Bogotá, I really recommend choosing a comfortable hotel or a cozy hostel that feels like a retreat just for you. The weather can change quickly and rain is common, so I was very happy to have my own private room where I could rest and recharge. I spent many days walking more than six hours, exploring Chapinero, La Candelaria, and the surrounding streets – there is so much to discover, from cafés and colors to everyday city life....
Posted: January 10, 2026Very cool experience. I stayed near the Gold Museum. There are many restaurants nearby and more museums. At night, it is not very safe to walk in the area and you should be careful with people who approach you to talk.
Posted: December 6, 2025- I was with locals so I was feeling safe. - The food is really good. - I took a cab or I was walking so I didn’t experienced the public’s transport. - People are nice. - At this time some museums were closed… - Really good for shopping I think.

Bogotá is a very large city, where you find crime and homelessness in many areas, so you have to be alert and take care of your personal belongings. However, you can walk through all the streets without any problems. Regarding transportation, you can use public transit with caution and apps like Uber or Didi.
Posted: February 23, 2026Bogotá has their very own places where foreign people can travel and be very safe and have a lot of fun. Just avoid being alone in dangerous places but it is very fun to be here. Do not be with your phone outside during the night or in public transportation
Posted: February 9, 2026We have a lot of pickpocketers and phone thives, if you stay away from the more desplated areas and keep your bag in front of you when in a crowd you’ll be fine, as a local i always advice to travel on the first wagon of the transmilenio bus and away from open windows when in Sitp buses
Posted: January 7, 2026The safety map shows areas in Bogotá where women have reported feeling unsafe.

Travel isn’t just a passion for me — it’s my lifestyle. I love connecting with people, learning from cultures, sharing stories and music, and exploring unique places. I can host, join trips, or find travel buddies abroad. 🌈 Life’s too short not to wander!
