Couple travel experience

My husband and I went to Addis and Lalibela for a week last September and we loved it. The food and coffee are so delicious and we really enjoyed being able to see areas outside of the big city including the churches in Lalibela. We would love to go back someday and explore more.

Solo travel experience

If you’re on your own I’d stick to the north. Very little infrastructure at all in the south. Best cities are Lalibela, Axum and Gondar. If you’re traveling domestically Ethiopian airlines is probably the only close to the respectable airline in the country. Rock cut churches of Lalibela are amazing. Be prepared for a lot of hassling by the local people anywhere you go.
