Tunis is overall safe if you dress with the cultural context in mind, as a born and raised Tunisian I have never experienced anything in this city that has made me seriously consider it has a safety issue. As they tell you in other capitals in the public transport: don’t use your phone, be mindful of your belongings!

Here, we have strong laws that protect us against violence, and there are centers where women can go if they need help or support. In the streets, schools, and workplaces, you will always see many women active and present, which makes daily life feel more open and secure. Of course, no place is without challenges, but Tunisia really tries to create an environment where women can feel safe, respected and free
