Is Popayan safe for women?

Popayán as a capital city of Cauca is quite calm, but as a city in Colombia you should be alert about the thieves. Also before going to the towns close ask about the security, because at this moment there are some troubles by the war between illegal groups in some rural zones in Cauca.
