About me

Hi, I’m Xyla from China. I’m passionate about personal growth through travel. I lived in New Zealand from 2023 to 2025, house-sitting in over 20 homes during those two years — it gave me a glimpse into so many different ways of living. Now I’m based in Chongqing, China, and will probably stay here until April 2026. After that, I’m planning to visit Europe and have been applying for art residencies recently. I used to work as an art teacher for about four years before moving to New Zealand, where I explored hospitality, global retail fashion, and early childhood education. Currently, I’m an operations manager in real estate and also learning UX/UI digital design on the side. Looking for an remote job to travel more freely. I’m a cat lover who’s been into art and fashion for years. I still create occasionally and like to remake items. Also a storyteller who loves sharing and listening to people’s stories. I’ve explored the world in different ways — from snow mountain hikes to RV trips at high altitudes and treks through no man’s land. Open to good conversations and meaningful connections 🌿

Is Chongqing safe for women?

Chongqing is a safe city like other cities in China. You don’t have to worry about being robbed or stolen here. You can feel free to use any transportation here without worrying about safety. The people are very friendly, if something unsafe really happens to you(not very likely I would say), I am sure the police and people will take measures to help you.

unique geography made unique urban construction. This is the first thing come up to my mind when mentioning Chong Qing. Speaking of local vibe, Chong Qing is truly an inclusive city with chill vibe. It is friendly to LGBTQ+, and female are well respected in social atmosphere. Interestingly, female are tend to have more “power” and respect in most Chong Qinger marriages. Also, food here are incredibly tasty and unique. If you are the one who really into spicy food, please do visit here just for food sake.
