I’m a local in Tay Ninh, I have been living here for more than 22 years. I’m strongly believe my hometown is one of the safest destinations in Vietnam. The living cost here is pretty cheap so I don’t think there’s a reason for someone to rob your property.

I feel Da Nang is an extremely safe city. Very similar to the cities in Thailand. People are very friendly. When I walk on my own during the night nobody is cat calling me. Also the Buddhism culture makes ppl here very calm

I’m living in Da Nang for many years and feel very safe here. - Nice atmosphere: weather is nice and not polluted - People are nice, you can ask for help anytime - Foods are good and diverse - Great place for digital nomads
Posted: October 7, 2024In general it is safe and I think it is a bit safer than many other places because local people are very attentive and always willing to help. But just like in any other locations it is better if we are precautious.
Posted: October 4, 2024Very safe for solo travellers. I lived in Hanoi for over 30 years now and I have never been robbed or feto unsafe. We can hang out until midnight and ride motobike home without worrying at all. Maybe you should be more careful because you’re tourists but definitely Hanoi is a great andsafe place to travel for both solo travellers or female group of friends

Hoi An is generally very safe for (solo) female travellers. Locals are very welcoming and friendly and I've never experienced a situation where I felt I was in danger. I advise to take normal precautions such as paying more attention when alone at night time or going out to a bar by yourself.
Posted: August 24, 2024It's quite safe here. Nothing critical happened so far. I don’t need to be killed or kidnapped when I hang out whenever. A lot of good food here, and nice people. You’ll feel the weather and the vibe is so good here in Autumn

Overall, it's a safe country. You can walk alone at night and there is no worries about it. Especially if you live in Da Nang, the most livable city in Vietnam. HCMC is a bit messy and there are more robbers on the street so you have to watch out your stuff carefully. I'm currently in Nha Trang and things are pretty cheap here.
Posted: July 16, 2024Ho Chi Minh city generally is safe for solo travelers. People are so friendly and hospitable. I dont feel being in danger in public or even in the countryside. But maybe you will be looked a bit because you are foreigners but dont worry, people just curious

It’s better to have at least 1 male companion in your group rather than travel solo to this country. It’s not like you can’t, but if you decide to travel solo, better stick to big cities like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh. If you decide to travel somewhere else, better research carefully and look for a local guide if needed.

I motobiked from Saigon to Ha Giang and then back to Hanoi. Highly highly recommend! There is no better way to see Vietnam. I was scared at first to rent a motobike (I rented in Saigon and returned it 1 month later in Hanoi) without a licence and as a solo traveller. But they taught me to drive in the rent shop and I also met there my first road trip buddy. I also had parts of my trip when I was driving alone for a few days here and there, and I felt completely safe and confident. Actually, I would say driving a motorbike on my own increased my confidence. My favourite part was when me and two friends I met on the way took a 3 day detour off the main highways into the central Highlands to find an abandoned airport runway in the middle of the mountains, where we could go at our top speed without any other traffic, only us and the forest. This detour also gave us another opportunity to stay in rural towns and villages and see the side of Vietnam other than the main tourist attractions, and in those areas, I encountered the most kindness as well!

It was incredibly safe despite the buzzing life almost every where. The food was varied and rich. All restaurants had a good food experience. And the coffee was always cheap and excellent. I highly recommend for a first time solo traveler !
