Pretty much a safe place once you safe guard yourself and are aware of your surroundings. Make sure you don't tell people how much money you've got or where your every stop would be and you should be fine.

It is a tropical, beautiful island. People are super friendly overall. It is safe during the day to walk around . At night can be dangerous in the sense of being verbally harassed by men. Not recommended to go out solo in the night.

The surrounding areas are relatively safe and friendly but I would recommend going with either a guide or local. The people are welcoming and easy to get along with, but don't walk after dark especially in the town centre or any highly congested areas. Be wary and Have fun!
