Kathmandu is safe but you need to take precautions. Most people are really friendly and will try to help you. But there are also tourist traps and some sellers might charge you more than the original price. Walking at night alone is not recommended though. Almost everything shuts down at 9 and the streets are dark and empty unless you are in some happening areas like Thamel.
Posted: January 7, 2025It is Generally safe but few places are unsafe and specially to walk at night is bit risky for female. Having said that there are pickpocketing, robberies and other criminal activities everywhere in the world. We need to be careful.
Posted: January 6, 2025It's safe to travel and live in. Nepali people are very friendly and show hospitality.I have been living in lalitpur for two years now and nothing has happened. No robbery,No sexual assault. It's also safe to travel in public transportation.

Kathmandu is pretty safe for a woman traveling solo. The people are really kind and helpful. However, after dark, it might be risky to travel in a few places so I would suggest taking caution. However during day, it’s pretty safe all over Kathmandu, the people don’t make you uncomfortable.
Posted: October 21, 2024It is safe during day time but few cancelling can happen but at night in quiet areas it's a bit worrisome but I do feel safe walking alone and using the transport alone as well Nepal is a conservative country so helps when you dress more modestly

Absolutely loved my experience in Pokhara, Nepal. I stayed there for a week but I'm dying to go back. There's just so much to explore, the city is stunning and the people are really nice. I stayed in a hostel called Forest Lake in the Lakeside area and I can't recommend it enough!! Went paragliding, hired a little canoe to get to the temple in the middle of the lake... To move around, I recommend using the app Pathao (it's like the local Uber) to get rides on motorbikes.
Posted: February 27, 2025Experienced: March, 2024I have traveled solo in Nepal for a month. I felt very welcome, I haven't any bad experience to tell really. People were just lovely. Most activity i have done is trekking solo. I haven't had any guide with me. Totally worth it.
