Is Puerto Morelos safe for solo female travelers?

Puerto Morelos has a close-knit community and lower crime rates compared to larger cities, making it generally safe for solo female travelers. However, it is always important to be cautious and aware of your surroundings. While beaches and central tourist areas are well-patrolled and secure, exercise caution during the night. Keep your personal belongings close to you at all times to avoid pickpocketing.

The only sour note on the trip was getting scammed at a gas station when paying 😒. The rep change a bill for another in a matter of seconds.. then we found out this was a very common thing an was all over the Google reviews on different gas stations. Everything else was delightful! From the food to the people and stay. Highly recommended this small town. It's quite central!

A very safe little town with some very good restaurants and shops. The bookstore is a real highlight, as is the main plaza where on weekend evenings there are shows for the kids and a craft fair to buy keepsakes and gifts.

Puerto Morelos is safe and walkable, with scuba diving, restaurants, a supermarket, beaches, and more all walkable from the main square. Within easy driving access are the airport, cenotes, and many other attractions. The town is well lit and safe at night especially around the main square.
