For me, Malta is a very safe country with low crime rates and a welcoming atmosphere. Petty theft is rare, and it’s generally safe to walk around even at night, including in tourist areas. but obviously you need to be careful wherever you go.

In my honest opinion of being here three months, Malta is fine. yes, some men are a bit too much, but I’ve not experienced anything bad, only too much talking or questions. Overall, if you are not alone, you are most likely going home happy, with good memories and probably tipsy.
Posted: April 26, 2025I've been living here for two years and I've never had even a minor fight. I’ m living St. julian’s. I stayed in Sliema for about 9 months, it is a quieter area. I'm afraid of something being stolen or returning home late at night.
Posted: April 1, 2025Valletta is super safe compared to other cities. I am not worried about being mugged or taken. The Maltese are all relatively relaxed except in some tourist areas but this is to be expected. Just always be conscious of your surroundings but there is no extra concerns.

I have been living in Malta for 6 months now. It is a very safe place and people are kind to each other. Everyone is ready to help you if you struggle. There are many nationalities here and it is a very safe place for cultural exchange.
Posted: March 24, 2025Many different people live in here, on evening or night you wolk alone in the street and everywhere. All people helpful. There are people from different country. Generally Indian people live for work, Many students live here for English learning
Posted: March 9, 2025Honestly, it is quite a safe area, I've rarely felt increasingly worried about my safety. Now that is not to say that it is absolutely perfect because I have been catcalled very often, but it is not to the point where I am scared of being followed as they tend to stop once ignored.
Posted: February 19, 2025Malta is safe like most EU countries. Avoid St Julians area alone early in the mornings - Valletta, Rabat, Mdina, Zurrieq, San Gwann, Birgu, Mellieha. Enjoy, it’s absolutely gorgeous! Shops and restaurants may be found literally in each city. Try the hypogeums and hiking trails - there’s a lot around and feel free to DM for more!
Posted: February 4, 2025It’s very nice and safe. I never had men shouting things at me late at night. There is good lighting overal. I don’t get talked to a lot in the street in overal. The locals seem very respectful and friendly.
Posted: January 22, 2025I have been living here all my life. I can’t say that it’s as safe as I was when I was a kid, but it’s still considered very safe compared to other places. But like everywhere else, more cars and more people so obviously we still need to be careful etc but overall, very safe.

I felt safe, people are nice, especially Maltese men. There are many places to go visit, eat amazing food, hang out with new people. Paceville is crazy, very lively and loco, but fun. Valletta is nice, full of people, more cultural. I worked in the center of it, so for three months, had enough. Places to visit: comino blue lagoon, dingli cliffs, paradise bay, senglea, mgarr.

I was in Malta two years ago and it was amazing. I stayed in Sliema at a host family because I did a language course there, everything was easily accessible. I walked along to the water and took the ferry to Valletta (2€ or so for a 15 min ride which was really nice). Everything was easily accessible by bus, which goes along the coast. I also visited St. Julian’s. Even though it was october, everyday were like 23-28°C. I felt really safe (but I wasn’t out after 9:30 pm). Would absolutely recommend

I'm currently in university studying English and History undergrad- I really love them and am always eager to rattle on about anything history and literature related! I never turn down an opportunity to learn about them too, as well as culture, art or things you're passionate about. I enjoy getting to know people and different life experiences. I also just had a gap year where I travelled around Europe and did WWOOFing, which has made me fall in love with travelling and lean into things with more curiosity and a desire to learn, whatever it may be about. Nature has always been something dear to me, as well as advocating for minority groups in whatever way that I can. On another note, one of my favourite things to do is taking care of other people and especially baking for them or with them! I'm always looking for the chance to do so hehe
