I have been living in Mosta for two years. Locals are kind and warm, ready to provide information. I never felt unsafe whether the streets were crowded or empty, during the day or at night. Lots of CCTV, local police is present for bigger events like the village feast. People sometimes drive a bit fast on the larger roads in the outskirts of the city which can be poorly lit at night.

I feel very safe walking after dark, everybody is polite, I have never experienced catcalling or any other harrasment so far. If I am overreacting, you can even leave your bag unattented at one place, leave come back later and it will still be there😆
Posted: January 5, 20254 years ago I would have said that it was one of the safest country i have been But these two last years have , unfortunatly, shown really sad event (rapped, murder), so i feel a bit less safe. But still much more than Belgium or France
Posted: January 4, 2025it is a safe city by day and even by night at times, but there have been instances of femicide. in the last four years there have been i think 5, and not in the way that these women were out and doing anything drastic, but inmocent people. parks at night and less crowded places are a no after 8pm or even just dark.

Overall Malta it's a small and safe island located in the Mediterranean but as any other countries there's a little chance of crimes or what ever... since 2016 I've been living here and did not occur any problems :)

In general, Malta is a very safe country. I always walk alone, even at night. I've been approached by men, but nothing too serious, but as it's a country that welcomes people from all over the world and very close to other continents, there can be discomfort caused by men and I've heard reports of harassment. What's more, you don't hear about pickpockets or muggings here.
Posted: September 13, 2024Malta is a quite safe island, however lately we've been seeing an increase in crimes overall! I would say it is still quite safe for females travelling alone, even during the night time you can go alone for walks and etc, but I did had some unpleasant situations but nothing to worrying
Posted: August 26, 2024Mostly safe.. harassment and crime is usually most apparent in nightlife areas.. however if walking alone after dark one should take precautions since most non touristy areas are not well lit..but we have a good Uber/bolt that can take you to your destination and are quite safe

Malta is quite safe. Used to be 100 per cent safe but recently over the years crime rate has increased a bit. However its not an alarming situation and rarely happens anything bad to travellers whether they are solo travellers or in groups

Since I came to Malta I'm felling very safe during my walks around the place. Considering my original country (Brazil) most places in Europe seem safer. I'm trying don't be scared around to enjoy my staying here, but of course Im always aware during my walks. So far so good. Malta is a very nice spot for exploring

Malta in December? Absolutely! ☀️ I spent 4 amazing days exploring this incredible island. The weather was perfect, mild enough for shorts and a light jacket, allowing me to soak up the sun☀️ Transportation was a breeze and super affordable, making it easy to get around. 🐠 Foodies rejoice! Malta is a seafood paradise with endless options. The city itself is a melting pot of cultures, and the people? Incredibly friendly and helpful. It's a relaxed and safe haven, perfect for exploring at your own pace. 💃🏻 Even a solo night out at a local club was an unforgettable experience (and yes, I was the only girl there, but everyone was so welcoming!). 🗺️ There's SO much to see and do, it's impossible to list it all! DM me on Insta &nci.arra for all the juicy details! ✈️"
Posted: January 7, 2025Experienced: December, 2024I found a cheap trip for a week in St Paul’s Bay that I booked. The lower standard hotel did feel unsafe but it was okay and nothing happened except for staff being a little “pushy”. People where very friendly and service staff are very polite but I did experience a lot of encounters from men. From what I heard it is a safe country with a low crime rate, but like in every other place, I definitely would not feel safe walking alone without other people around. I did have a great, relaxing holiday but I would recommend booking a hotel with a higher standard to ensure being able to sleep without worrying!
