Kuala Lumpur is a safe city with plenty of nighttime activities to enjoy. While tourist areas can get quite crowded, there’s little to worry about. However, it’s best to avoid pubs, as there may be drunk individuals and potential disturbances.
Posted: November 21, 2024Overall, the touristy areas in Kuala Lumpur (Petaling Street, KLCC, etc) are quite safe, the only thing is that it can get crowded so I would just be a bit more careful with my belongings to be extra safe and vigilant. Like any other city, avoid walking alone at night, especially in less touristy areas. Another thing to note is that the MRT (train lines) in Malaysia have women only coaches so you can opt for these as you travel around KL. For other public transport options, it is recommended to use grab rather than taxis since you get the price upfront.
Posted: November 6, 2024Safe but don’t test it. Avoid dark alleys, wearing too flashy items or appear lost and not confident. Most spots are safe, just some areas or when your sling bags are just too exposed and you appear vulnerable. I go out late night all the time but always stay cautious and mindful where i am
Posted: October 23, 2024Snatch thieves and petty crimes if you're not paying attention. Always carry your handbag towards you body and don't walk too close to street where motorbikes can grab your handbag( eg when walking on the curbside) motorcyclist can drive by and steal your handbag if you just let it swing freely Other than that, it is safe, filled with aggressive drivers. Dress modestly or be prepared for men to stare

Kuala Lumpur is a fairly safe capital city to visit. However, you need to be cautious when visiting a few places after 11 pm like Chow kit and Petaling Street, If you are a party social butterfly, then Bukit Bintang is your place - happening with an array of pubs and clubs aligned in the street. Just be careful not to leave your drink unattended. .I guess this is an international safety precaution.🙂
Posted: September 16, 2024Kuala Lumpur is generally safe for solo female travelers. Use rideshares like Grab, stay vigilant against petty crimes, dress modestly, and avoid isolated or poorly lit areas at night. Be aware of your surroundings.
Posted: September 4, 2024Just try not to walk roadside at night. Don't stay at dark alleys. Kidnapping and any other is not a worry, just small worry for snatch thief. Shopping centers and eateries are fairly safe. Grab and Uber are safe at night too.

Kuala Lumpur is mostly safe for solo females. Most people here are quite friendly and cooperative to strangers and tourists and can speak basic English. Some areas are lively at night as well and not closed like countries in Europe.
Posted: August 12, 2024It's the capital of Malaysia. More to modern life cities. You can get nice places to visit, food, bar, but congested traffic. You can experience different types of culture. Available for oubkic transport such as bus, train and grab ehailing services.
Posted: July 18, 2024Kuala Lumpur is a safe city for tourists as it’s a city with multiple cultures and races. People are used to living with different races and languages and cultures, as such they don’t get racism issues mostly. It’s also the capital of Malaysia so people are rich enough to live here and not much robbery is happening.

Stayed in a hostel for one week near Jalan Alor night market and was very safe and welcoming, meeting a lot of people of many backgrounds. Lots of activities for both nightlife, culture and sober activities.

Malaysia
Recently arrived in KL and so far so good. Stayed at 3 kinds of services apartments and they were great! Many food options here both western and eastern, and quite cheap. Transportation via metro/train/grab cab is very affordable. Will be here for the next few months and would love to meet up!

Hi! I'm Syah! I'm a local in Kuala Lumpur. Languages: English (fluent), Arabic (basic) so no language barrier! Excited to meet & host fellow hijabi travelers! Muslim-friendly to those who are looking for halal food & to perform your prayers in comfort etc! I am a researcher and a post-grad student, I often travel for my academic conferences whenever I get the chance, and take the opportunity to explore local culture, sites and food! I've been living in different countries due to my family's nature of work since I was young and now mainly based in KL. I plan to move to UAE in the future so would be traveling there for the holidays to get to know the environment and hopefully make new friends beforehand! Ps: I am not open to hosting at the moment unfortunately as I am working to finish my thesis. Will be happy to have coffee when available!
