In general Riga is a safe city, should avoid neighborhood called Sarkandaugava, but city centre is a safe space, especially if you stick to Old Riga (yes, even at night). Like any other city close to central station and other very public places you might want to keep an eye on your personal belongings.
Posted: July 8, 2024Safest place I’ve been, you can leave your computer in a Café and no one will touch it. Walk through a park without proper lights and allow pitch dark? Nothing gonna happen. No street calling, harassment or else it’s life changing.
Posted: July 5, 2024I've generally found Riga, especially the city centre, to be relatively safe. I've walked alone at night many times and thankfully was never attacked. There are some men who may come on to you late at night but pepper spray is a useful tool in that case. It's best to walk in well lit and more crowded areas
Posted: June 26, 2024Riga is safe to travel at all but sometimes you can face with drunk people which I think it is not a big safety problem. Some parts of riga feel like less safe but centre can be safely visited in nights

Riga is a very safe city. It's not as big as Paris. I have been to many European cities, and I feel very safe in Montenegro and Riga. There is very good public transport, including buses, trams, and trolleybuses. The airport is close, and bus 22 can take you to the center in just 20 minutes.
Posted: June 22, 2024A lot of times me and my girlfriends walked on the streets of Riga after 00.00 and any problem didn't ignite. But in some rural areas whenever we walked with men friends we had little conversation with local men. But at the end we were all safe

I think Riga is a pretty safe city, but ofcourse as a woman, you often feel creeped out even in the safest places. The “quiet centre” and old city is very safe, even at nights. One place I would avoid at night is around Origo center by the railway station and Gogola street. There are a lot of drunks and shady people at all times, but at day it’s pretty safe because there are a lot of people there just commuting. Just hold your purse in the tunnels. Also wouldn’t recommend Moscow forstate. Could experience harrasment.
Posted: May 25, 2024It is a safe town, especially city centre is, but if you go to Riga's districts away from centre at night, there you can attract some people who are not very pleasant. stay safe and don't walk alone at night very often
Posted: April 30, 2024I would say that Riga is pretty safe, there are no major crimes and you can safely walk home after dark. I would recommend to still be aware of your surroundings as everywhere. Some neighbourhoods like Sarkandaugava and Ķengarags can be more dangerous as others at night, but overall the city is safe
Posted: April 9, 2024Nice and safe place for solo travellers and safety for women is high. A lot of opportunities to meet other people and experience the city together. In night hours would be best to stick to the center but even if going further there should not be any problems.

I felt very safe, the people were warm and helpful. They speak English well and most also speak Russian. No one bothered me, I wasn't worried about being robbed (like in Brussels or Barcelona). I recommend it.
Posted: November 12, 2024Well, I solo traveled to Riga, Latvia in July 2023. As a solo woman traveller, I can say that I had a safe travel experience during my trip. I liked the atmosphere, food, tourist sightseeings, history, and culture very much. I definitely recommend you visiting Riga!
