The city is actually very safe, especially if you’re walking around the left bank. Of course, like in any other city, it’s good to stay a bit cautious, but overall it feels very safe. The right bank can be a bit less safe, especially late at night and on the outskirts.
Posted: April 17, 2025I would say it's usually very safe near Expo park, in Esil neighborhood overall. But it's very dark and unsafe in other parts of Astan, and i wouldn't dare to walk alone at night. At some parts I could get robbed, but I have to truly try my best to find those areas.
Posted: April 16, 2025I living here, so I used to something things. And Astana is very interesting and underrated place, but it still not too safe for the women. And if you a solo female traveler and plans to come, I suggest to you to not going after dark and be careful when you’re in not public place. Wish you kind regards ✨

Astana is quite safe place, but in definite parts, I’m living in the place where there are a lot of families live, so I feel quite comfortable in this area, but I can’t say about other places, I’ve heard that u should be careful in the right part of the city, cause city is divided into two parts because of the river Esil.
Posted: February 11, 2025Astana is a quite safe place. I was/am always comfortable here. People are hospitable and nice. Sometimes they might be curious if you look different so they might want to capture it and may ask you to take a photo with them. If you’re not ok with it you can simply say no to it and it’ll be ok. Overall, people here understand some English so it wouldn’t be a big problem to express yourself.
Posted: January 21, 2025Astana is a pretty safe city if you behave within the frame (like everywhere else, I would say). But i think a woman should be careful while contacting men in Kazakhstan in person. Here are simple rules for a solo woman in Kazakhstan: 1. Don’t go out with a man after 12pm 2. Don’t let couriers know you’re staying alone 3. When ordering taxi, use only Yandex app where everything is official and tracked and you can share the route link with anyone 4. This one might be obvious but don’t take a drink from strangers and don’t drink too much while out

Personally feel safe in areas where I am usually in(Levi bereg). But it is also possible to have men around who want to get ur number, especially at 5AM in summer. There is no many people outside in winter due to cold weather, so it is quite calm.

Astana is a safe city if you are in the safe districts. Esil and Almaty districts are the safest. So if you want to stay here, stay in Esil or Almaty districts. Almaty district is a residential area and most for locals.
Posted: December 24, 2024It’s safe to travel alone after 10 pm,but only at touristical places I think.(like Khan shatyr, central park, expo etc) I recommend to go out at night with someone. But at the daytime it’s safe to go out for girls
Posted: June 1, 2024Astana is a new city, built specifically as the capital. We spent one night in Astana and that was enough. I recommend visiting the mosque and the tower. About 1.5 hours from Astana is a former gulag (for women and children) - we hired a driver to take us there.
