There are areas that are very populated and obviously ok to walk in because you see much crowd or much shops for example. But for example, I wouldn't say it's so safe for a girl to walk in an unknown area at night by herself when the if that area doesn't have people walking around or crowds.

Moderately safe actually but i think it's a little bit scary in the dark nights and small alleys but overall main streets are good to walk in even in the dark ! Transport is actually depending on the people themselves you get in with but still moderately safe tho , Hope y'all stay safe wherever you go .
Posted: January 17, 2025I've lived here for the last 25 years. People here are friendly and welcoming (especially with foreigners). I usually go out for coffee, to catch a movie, to go shopping, or to take a swim. I enjoy these activities.
Posted: December 28, 2024Erbil is a very safe city as it is filled with Arabs, Kurds as well as plenty of foreigners. It is a very developed city and yet sets its boundaries with women. In public transport, men stand up for women if there isn't a seat available. Also they prefer to sit alone or with a man rather than a woman to keep their distance. Almost everywhere everyone treats each other with great respect and hospitality
