I've been advised not to go out at night and not hike or go to secluded areas alone. Where I live, in Costambar is fine though. It's a sort of gated community, with security, I can leave my bag unsupervised at the beach.
Posted: December 31, 2024I went to Puerto Plata by myself and felt very unsafe. There was constant, incessant, and degrading catcalling even by the police themselves. As a solo female traveler, I’d advise against visiting Puerto Plata.
