The cross is a very small city in Chile where everyone knows each other. It's very rare to find tourists here, but it is very close to places like Concón, Valparaíso, or even Santiago! You can travel all over Chile by bus, and as long as you are friendly and prepared for high speeds and the bus filling up with local people, you will be fine. We Chileans love our country and welcome visitors, so don't be afraid to ask someone for advice. Not all of us speak English or other languages, but don't give up; there is always someone who can help you with what you need :)
