Definitely need to do a whale watch! Love Kiehi as my favorite town to stay in, especially The Hale Pau Hana Resort. A very walkable town but a car is helpful to get outside the beach area. This is my happy place!

Solo travel experience

I was on a solo trip to Maui. It was amazing and I never felt unsafe. I stayed at a hostel where they offered free tours, which was a great way to meet new people and explore interesting places on the island. I highly recommend this trip.

Paia is located just before the start of the road to Hana. Visit this place on your way back to the hotel. At the beginning of the road to Hana, there is a beach where you can usually see many turtles. Make sure you are respectful and keep your distance. If you want to see turtles in the ocean, the black rock area in front of the Sheraton at the northern end of the hotels is always a great place where you are most likely to see sea turtles. I really enjoyed Haleakala at sunrise - you need to book it in advance. If you do, make sure you bring warm clothes.
