About Me

Hello, I'm Sevcan. I am a student in Istanbul. Although my life is stuck in the triangle of school-home-work, I try to be intertwined with nature every time I find. Although dog walking is an activity I enjoy, unfortunately I don't have a dog. But I have 2 cats, but it is more accurate to say that I have 2 children:D I have the habit of following artistic activities and examining everything I see in detail. I hope we can get along well, thank you for reading and I hope you have a good day.

Is Istanbul safe to travel?

4.1 /5

Based on 65 experiences

Solo travel experience

As a woman traveling solo, I found the city remarkably safe and welcoming.Istanbul provided a secure environment throughout my visit. From exploring historical sites like the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque to navigating bustling markets, tasting the most delicious cuisine: lahmaacun, pide, kebab, balık ekmek... I felt comfortable and respected.I advise against purchasing pre-packaged baklava and spices from touristy areas. Opting for freshly weighed baklava. For gifts, consider planners, calendars, mugs, tote bags with local inspirations, spinning bulbs, Turkish delight, tea sets, and traditional hats for unique souvenirs that capture Istanbul's charm and culture.

Group travel experience

- first things first, we stayed at Airbnb , the host was an amazing person. It was our first time traveling and he was very fun and welcoming person. - i honestly felt safe around the city, we stayed at Besiktas and it was very good , we had very cheap shops around us. - remember, food portions are huge in Istanbul and always try to share 💖

About Me

Hey, I’m Gaby! I’m 25yo and wanting to see most of the world and learn all languages at the same time (but failing in most 😂), I work in marketing so I’m basically the stereotype of that: communicative and friendly, never afraid to do anything by myself if I want I to and no one wants to come together. It will be nice to meet you!

Is Istanbul worth visiting?

Overall rating

4.6 /5

based on 65 experiences

Solo travel experience

I believe that you should be careful depending on the districts you’re visiting. The tourist areas are full of local shops that try to scam you. Turkish people are so generous and sweet but definitely be cautious about the scammers.

Solo travel experience

I travelled in Istanbul in 2022 it was a solo trip. Actually it was an amazing experience which change me a lot. That was my first time to travel alone. Turkey in general is a country. It has a diversity in nature, activity, food. I recommend Turkish delights so much. I really loved them. Also the prices is ok and the people are friendly. I also enjoyed the see tour in Istanbul so much. I went to princess island. I stayed there two weeks and I really recommend people to visit Istanbul
