I visited Lucerne and it was gorgeous, highly recommend it. I went to Mount Pilatus as a half-day trip from Lucerne and it was also beautiful (you can take a gondola or train car to the top).

Things to do: - Walk Chapel Bridge - Take a cruise of the lake - Stroll through the old town - See the Lion monument - Visit the Glacier Garden - See the Meggenhorn Castle - Swim in the lake Safety: I felt safe the whole time. Recommendations: Lucerne is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

Recommendations: Lucerne is my favorite city in Switzerland. You have mountains and lake, but the city is expensive.
