Solo travel experience

Nicaragua is an amazing country. I felt safe traveling there, except maybe a little bit less in the city of Granada, but nothing to worry about, just a bit of aggressive catcalling. Nature is beautiful and people are super friendly and kind. I especially loved the Island of Ometepe and Laguna de Apoyo.

Solo travel experience

I was 5 weeks on my own in Nicaragua with no transportation other than the chicken bus and walking. Not once did I feel unsafe. In fact, I was met with nothing but kind and genuine offers of assistance the entire time and it’s one of the biggest reasons I fell in love with this country. Of course, I never did anything I wouldn't have done at home like wandering alone at night, being intoxicated and unaware of my surroundings, or putting myself in unsafe situations.

Solo travel experience

I was traveling as a female alone and felt pretty much safe. Walking in the streets was uncomfortable since guys usually shouted comments. I took buses (during the day) and didn't go out/drink at night.
