I will definitely be traveling back to La Paz to learn more about their culture. Sopocachi was a very safe area. Air BnB is the way to go if you do not want to stay in a Hostal. The night life is great here as well.

The safety of this city depends on where you are, such as the "Ceja" or "Alto" zones, which are highly dangerous. In the "Centro" zone, you should be careful with your cell phone; they'll steal it quickly. The South zone is a little safer; generally, I don't have too many concerns for my safety there. In general, you should be careful on dark or small streets with no people around.

Safety in La Paz is relatively good, but It depends on where are you going, and what time you’re going. You shouldn’t walk alone late at night. The means of transportation I recommend are the cable car, the PumaKatari bus, and apps like Uber, inDrive, or Yango.
Posted: June 23, 2025This city is very beautiful, especially in the rainy season when everything greens up, especially downtown and the south zone are known for being safe areas with lots of green areas. Variety of places to visit, cultural activities to visit, unique restaurants and beautiful scenery, it is generally very safe, there are danger zones but that is usually by the eyebrow of the high or some distant neighborhoods in the center of the city the others are comfortable and beautiful to walk and explore and people can be very collaborative and friendly.
Posted: January 26, 2025It depends on the zone. For example El Alto it is definitely not a safe place, I wouldn't be walking alone nor at noon nor at night. Sopocachi is the central part and it's pretty safe. I live in the south zone, the safest of all zones.
