How safe is Oman?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Oman is generally a safe country, even for solo female travelers. The Omani people are known for their hospitality and they are respectful towards visitors. As for walking alone at night, it is also considered safe in most populated areas, where well-lit and well-traveled. However, like any country, it's always recommended to maintain general precautions, like avoiding secluded areas at night.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Oman is generally safe with the majority of the buses, taxis, and ferries operating professionally and reliably. Oman is generally considered a safe country for women to travel alone in the Middle East region. A traditional culture of respect towards women and strict laws about public conduct contribute to an overall lower occurrence of street harassment. Although isolated incidents can still occur, as they can anywhere, most females report a comfortable and respectful environment as long as they adhere to cultural norms, especially modest dressing.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Oman is generally a safe travel destination with a low crime rate. Petty crimes like pickpocketing or theft are not common. However, as in any other destination, it's always important to stay vigilant, especially in crowded places and keep your belongings safe at all times.

Oman, Solo travel

I’ve drove around 1.300 km, by myself, and i felt safe 100% of the time. The country is amazing, with stunning landscapes. Food was also great. It was not hard to communicate in english. The diversity of landscape was much higher than i expected.

Oman, Solo travel

I traveled to a tropical region with stunning beaches and sea (Salalah) and to its capital (Muscat), situated between two dry mountain ranges and typical white buildings. I fell in love with this country. I adored their architecture, order and safety. Moreover, people were very friendly and surprised when they saw a woman traveling alone.

Muscat

Oman is an incredibly safe country, with a very low crime rate and virtually no violent or petty crime. The people are warm, friendly, and welcoming, especially towards foreigners, and all religions are respected. While walking around, you can feel safe even at night, though. There has been instances where i have been catcalled or followed but without any harm or interaction. However, these occurrences are rare and do not diminish the overall sense of security in the country. It is one of the most peaceful countries in the world.

Muscat

Muscat is a safe city. I would often take a stroll at night with no worries, as the hospitality-centric culture of the people reassures my worries on my safety. The only uncomfortable thing I would get is stares by other foreign workers.
