Is Skopje safe for solo female travelers?

Skopje is, generally speaking, a safe city for solo female travelers. Locals are usually friendly and willing to help. The city center is well lit and busy even at night. However, as in any city in the world, there exists some petty crime like pickpocketing, particularly in crowded places, as well as occasional reports of street harassment. It's important to remain aware of your surroundings and follow general safety precautions, such as not displaying valuable items in public and avoiding deserted areas at night.

First of all, I have to say that it is a very cute little Balkan city. I went to the Chinese restaurant and the ambiance and food were very nice. There is a bridge that divides the country into two parts. On one side, there are sidewalks from the Ottoman period. The part of the city we call the old town is where you can see many Turkish restaurants and cafes. Of course, you can also see many traces from the Ottoman period. The other part is in a completely European order, as if there are two different countries in the same city. A safe and beautiful city

Group travel

This time of the year the weather was rainy and a bit cold. If you like warm weather I would recommend not coming in April. City center is very nice, lots of things to see and the restaurants in the city center are amazing with excellent food.

Skopje is a very interesting city. You can walk through the entire city. I felt very safe despite the attention. The bazaar was quite nice. I participated in a free city walk and spent time at Alexander Square. Shopping in Skopje was also quite good.

Generally safe, especially in the city centre and well populated areas. Neighborhouds that are popular for going out (ex. Debar maalo) are also pretty safe. I would only advise on being a bit more careful than usual if you are walking alone somewhere after midnight, but even then, It's fairly safe, just be generally cautious.

Dont wear something luxurious especially when you are in Chair. While using public transport put everything in your bag and hold tight. Dont hold your phone while walking. Dont park to the places that you dont know. Dont get in taxis unless you called them from application. thats it <4

it’s quite safe, but still always be careful and act like a local. for public transport there are older men that stare but just stare at them back weirdly and they will back off. ive came home at 4am and the city is just empty but always try to get home the safest and fastest way and be aware of taxi sacamers!

About me

I am a 20 year old psychology student with an unquenchable thirst for life. My biggest dream is and has been to see and experience the world. I just came back to North Macedonia from a semester in Rome and I have had my suspicions confirmed that I need more and can’t live without excitement in my life. I have already been to 20 countries but of course, it is never enough. I am very easygoing and understanding, I have met dozens and hundreds of different people just by living, being extroverted, travelling and also working in hospitality. I am up for almost anything and have been told I am great to have around :)
